Orange: Moving from an iphone tariff to an animal plan

Hi All,
I'm getting conflicting information from different people at Orange and wondered if anyone here has had any similar experiences in changing their service plan.
I recently downgraded my talk plan from iphone 45 to iphone 40, this comes out at £34 a month ex. vat, £40 with vat for me.
My iphone is on it's last legs after dropping it quite a few times, and with no insurance i need to get another phone because my contract isn't up for renewal until October.
I've decided on using a Blackberry which I have access to but will need the BB Service on top.
On the Orange website it states you can move your plan to an equivalent plan (or higher at any time, and downgrade by 1 plan which I've already done this year).
I then posted on Orange UK on Facebook for advise before I rang customer services for the official line, the team there advised I can move from an iphone tariff to an animal plan where the BB Service on some plans are included so no extra £5 a month is necessary which I thought great!.
I looked at the animal talk plans on offer which for the "40" plans come out at £40 ex. vat. This would still mean I have to pay the extra £5 when it includes vat!!
I called Orange and had a nightmare speaking to various people who could not understand what I was telling them (call centre abroad).
I told the advisor I wanted to move to an animal plan which the Orange team on Facebook said I could do or as they called it "migrate" my talk plan, and my intention is to pay the same as I am now, i.e an equivelant animal talk plan.
I was advised I could take a £40 plan which included vat, I queried this a couple of times that this was not a £40 plan plus vat, he said no £40 was inclusive of vat.
I was then told I could also take the £35 plan which included vat, I queried this a dozen times as this is a downgrade, when I've had one already this year!! He said I could take the £35 plan no problem, and that would include the BB Service as it comes free with the animal talk plans he mentioned.
i said I would think this over and call back not sure what I was signing upto and wanted to query it again with another advisor.
I spoke today to another advisor who told me that the previous advise was incorrect from both the advisor and the Orange Facebook team!!!
I was told I would need to pay the extra £5 for the BB Service and could not "migrate" my plan no matter what.
confused!!

I know nothing about Blackberries, but do you actually need this BB service? Cannot you just use BB instead of iP on your existing plan?0

It can be done, albeit not officially. I've never had a problem changing someone from Animal to iPhone plans and vice versa...I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

You do need this service in order to use the full feature set of a Blackberry such as BBM (instant messaging) and push E-mail, which are the main draws of the phones.
Without it some internet features may work, but none of the ones mentioned above.0
