My home line blocks all numbers from anonymous sources, but they are using a standard line and thats something I need pay extra for :( I told them I was dealing with it in writing before( had already send 2 or 3 letters) but they just ask the questions that I had already given answers to in the letter. It gets a bit tiring after a while.

    Regards
    Jon

Alternatively, take up the gym membership and build up your strength until you can beat the cr[STRIKE]a[/STRIKE]p out of them. :D

Does anyone know where I stand on this? I am right to refuse to pay?
You are very nearly right to refuse to pay. Where you have failed is that you have not given them the ability to rectify their failings - at least not with a letter which would form evidence in court that you have been reasonable.

I suggest that you put that right now, by offering to continue the contract provided they give you an induction within 30 days and start the contract from the date of your induction and that they confirm in writing that this is acceptable. Point out that the difficulty has arisen because they failed to provide the induction session.

If they accept this way out, then the problem is solved. But if they do not accept - or accept but insist that the contract is backdated to the original start, you would be in a much stronger position to defend rescinding the contract and defending yourself against court or trashing of your credit record.
