    You could listen on DAB/Freeview/Satellite/Internet.

Confirmed, the 648kHz World Service transmission closed on Sunday. Widely reported in other forums.

HMG told the BBC to save money.

Rather than take a machine gun to several layers of middle management, pay senior managers something closer to what they are worth (ie 90% pay cut) and scrap the umpteen digital TV services they produce which virtually nobody watches (e.g. the Gaelic language channel Alba where most programs have more letters in the title than viewers) they have taken the axe to the World Service (and other useful / popular services) either in a futile attempt to get HMG to relent or possibly pure spite.

Certainly not. Against forum rules I'm sure so I stuck to a purely factual explanation :)
  • Hi,

I can still get it through the night, Radio 4 (104 fm) switches across from 1.00am until 5.20am.
