Audio sender?

I'm looking for a bit of (obviously cheap) kit to transmit just audio from one place in the house to another. It just needs to have jack or phono input/output at each end, no remote control - it's to connect an internet radio in the kitchen to a stereo in a second lounge. Wiring would be impractical/unsightly so wireless it is. Unfortunately all of the senders I have seen are meant for video & have remote control, scart etc. most don't even seem to have basic sound input, ignoring the rest of the connections.
Anyway, if anyone has come across such an item, please let me know.
TIA

Not heard of anything like that, but you can get Wireless Speakers. Plug a "gadget" into the earphone socket of the radio and it transmitts to the speakers.
Possible problem with this, pluging something into the earphone socket will disable the built in speaker.
If the radio has external speakers you will need a socket doubler.0 -
That's a thought - can you still get these? - shall do a Google now. Thanks for reply.
Quick google found loads - bit on the pricey side though, cheaper to dapat a wireless sender. Any idea what sort of range wireless speakers have? - the 2 rooms are either end of the house - 50-60ft through walls0 -

Just did a googe search and the first page I loooked at said 100m
I expect the range will be stated on most descriptions.0 -
Will give it a go, thanks for that.0

you could also invest in an audio transmitter, generally used for mp3 players to play into your car stereo via the tuner, they plug into the audio output socket and transmit a frequency, you could simply just "tune in" onto your stereo FM, ive seen them for around £30 and for your case would be ideal.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Good thought, though how are they powered?0

theyre powered by a AA battery, some AAA, it doesnt need much power to transmit a signal:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thanks for that - I think the problem there might be insufficient power. The few I've looked at quote 10 - 20m range. I guess as they're mainly for mp3 to car/home hifi then they wouldn't normally need to be more than a metre or so away, & like wireless PC stuff, the quoted ranges are only ever in 'ideal' situations. Mine needs to cover 50 odd feet, with walls & I don't think anything powered by just batteries will suffice for this.0

I don't know what gear you have, but I stream internet radio from my PC over wifi, via my router, to my wifi enabled Pocket pc. I then connect the Pocket pc to my hifi or amp. This also works with my music library etc. I use Windows Media Encoder to do this.

There are loads of video senders that have red/white (for sound), and yellow (for video), phono connectors, which can be used to transmit audio without connecting the video phono.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
