Stuck with NTL, whats their Broadband like

I am forced into keeping NTL as all our extensions are wired to the cable phone line. I can go back to BT but each extension will cost ~£75. And we plan to move in around 6months so this would be wasted money...Unless I could rewire - could I do this? The main boxes for bt and ntl are about 2 feet apart
If I am stuck with NTL, do they do a good unlimited broadband - I dont care about speed, 512 would do, its the unlimited I need. I believe that AOL can be done with NTL (it said so in the leaflet...for some areas????)
Does anyone have any experience. I know NTLs customer service problems - but I have to deal with that anyway - I'm interested in experiences using the service!
Thanks in Advance

As far as rewiring goes with the boxes a couple of feet apart, things shouldn't be too drastic to swop all of your extensions to the BT socket. Depending on how confident you are with it, and how many extensions youwant to be conecting in. If the extension wires go past the BT socket then it is a matter of shortening them and conecting into the BT socket (assuming it is the modern type where the bottom half unscrews ). If your cables will be too short then the simplest way I think would be to buy a "slave" phone socket, fix this near your NTL socket connect your extensions all into this and a short wire from this to your BT socket.
Having said all that, if you dont feel confident doing it, then see if you can find somebody local who can (recomendations from friends usualy best ).
As far as NTL s broadband goes, so so in my opinion. When its good its good, but do have spells of no connection ocasionley. Did have a problem with modem recently, the engineer did come out in about a couple of days,He came over very well as knowing his stuff , sorted the problem, job done, so was pleasanty suprised/ impressed in that respect.Nope.... Still cant think of owt interesting to put here.0 -

Good to know it can be done - I wasnt sure if NTL wiring was different. I am happy to do it - can it be done without specialist tools? Im off to do some googling on the subject!0 -
not had too many probs with NTL BB (touching wood as i type, does chipboard count?)
the only thing is their terrible customer service - but u r already used to that
i keep having to reset my modem every so often... thats the only prob really
n sometimes its a little bit slower than normal...
does that happen with most BB ?
does it depend on how many people are using it?

I went over from NTL to ADSL in November, lured by a cheap package. Supposedly faster BB, but the service is poor. I shall be going back to NTL when the contract is up (have a look at their website, they have some good combined BB/Calls packages atm)

PS yes, I do have to periodically refresh my ADSL modemI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
NTL broadband is very good as long as they not doing any work on it then they tend to just shut it down, with no warning.
I am sometimes on 24 hours on and off and never really have any problems, they mess about with outlook now and then but have friend on aol hers is crap.0 -
Oh dear, I was thing about AOL via NTL.
Mainly because AOL is unlimited. Do NTL have a good unlimited package of their own?
Also is AOL still like 'internet for dummies' or is it a proper full service now?0 -
I have recently joined NTL broadband, 300k for £17.99 (first three months £8.99). This is an unlimited package and I was told the speed would increase to 1mb sometime this month.
So far no problems.0 -

Really? Going up to 1mb - is this for everyone? Sounds too good to be true!0 -
yes it is going to be changed to 1meg but a cap will be introduced of 3gig/month.0

I would rather be slow than have a cap. Speed doesnt make much difference for day-to-day browsing and big files can be left overnight. If it takes 3hrs or 1hr makes no difference, but a cap kills the whole point!0
