Having been with VM for four years should I be eligible for a free router?

I tried this recently. they said that new router was only available if I upgraded to the next BB package as I was on an old tariff.
Turned out I could get BB and a home phone for cheaper then Virgin required for BB alone (Iwas dropping the TV package anyway).
I went elsewhere for the Home Phone/BB cheaper option. I realise I wont get the full 20MB, but not far short of the 10MB I was getting with Virgin.0 -
VM (cable) no longer dish out routers they only provide combined modem/routers which they call hubs. If you want a hub they will charge for it unless it comes free with an upgrade deal or you get lucky on an "I'm thinking of leaving and going with X because they give me a free wireless router" whinge. There are lots of complaints about the hubs too.0
