I was considering having a St Tropez spray tan done for my wedding by my local salon. Have used sunbeds in the past but not faired well on them as I am pale skin with tonnes of freckles. My OH tans really easy and gets a tan just walking out of the door, ha!

A girl who I know got married a couple of years ago and she had the same spray tan and said it didn't come off and it didn't look over the top, I only want a hint of colour, but now I'm a bit unsure....

I don't want to look orange or have any disasters.

I'm going to be in Lindos for 10 days before the wedding, my main issue is getting too much tan!!! Or rather, tan in the wrong places! I'm having to be really anal about taking strapless EVERYthing. I cannot get tan lines, they are not an option!! Unfortunately i'm rather top heavy and getting a reasonably priced strapless bikini in a 32F is rather hard!

Yes I will have that problem next year too, don't want straplines! My other problem is that OH tans really quick & will be really brown by 6th day when we get married & i will still be white:( O well all good fun:D

i'm having a fake tan trial with the place that's doing my tan and makeup for the wedding to see how the colour comes out so if it's too light i can go for a darker colour.

can't see me needed a very dark colour mind you, i'm pale as anything too dark and i'll look like a piece of mahogany

After having seen what malignant melanoma's (one of the worst forms of skin cancer you can get) has done to my mother, and having had a similar scare myself when I was 18, I'd really, really recommend avoiding tanning beds, especially if you're pale or have moles. Neither my mother or I use sunbeds - she's naturally pale, but spent a lot of time growing up in Africa, hence her issues now.

It only takes using sunbeds a few times to potentially cause problems. The fake tans that are around nowadays are so good, there really is no need to use sunbeds. I know they're easier, and less hassle, but it's really not worth risking your health for.

Thanks for all of the comments. Although I am aware of the dangers and have always been pretty anti sunbeds I reckon I'll have one on Friday and maybe one early next week and see what happens. It is March after all and it's been a long winter! I might try the fake tan, but it means a good day away and I don't have much spare time left until the wedding in 16 days!!

Excited as just took delivery of the cases of wine for my hen on Saturday (well only 2 but cases sounds better!) - good deal via Tesco Direct thanks to MSE - £10 off first order and free delivery. Got some half price prosecco and a lovely organic white - Terra Viva Pinot Grigio (I'd recommend it).

However, I just broke one of my best nails. Hopefully that is the hangover karma out of the way and I'll be ok on Sunday!
