Sunbeds and wedding tans

Start on 3 minutes if you've never been before, my brother went last week for a 6 minute session and got burnt - and he is already tanned. His theory is that the sunbeds had been in use all day so the bulbs were at max strength.0

Hi Guys n gals
Just a word of advice on tans, I know you girls like to look 'healthy' on your special day but please think of how your H2B will look when compared to you and vice versa- especially in the all important photos.
I have lost track of the number of beau brides who have themselves ended up looking a stunning shade alone but like umpa-lumpas when stood next to their un-tanned, typically pastey British blokes.
Photoshop has it's limitations and there isn't a 'de-umpalmpa this person but not this person' function.
so, if you're going ..... get your blokes down to the local Tan-Tastic too.
Oh and if you go for a self applied tan - please read the instuctions, I had one bride who was a lovely colour with the exception of ther hands, she looked like she was wearing orrange gloves!
Me and my husband went together (before he was my husband of course)
I dragged him along with me, and it wasn't for the wedding for him, it was so he had some colour for the honeymoon.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I've been told by H2B that I have to go on the sunbed before
I am quite pale normally and don't like the idea of sunbeds so think I'll go for a gradual tan. Will be trying them all out this summer ready for next FebruaryTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
I know its really bad but i use sunbeds most summers. I hate being pale.
I use a mixture of sunbeds and dove gradual moisturiser.
If you haveny used them before defo start at 3 mins for the first 2 sessions. Move gradually up to 6 and 9 mins.
I wouldnt ever go over 9 minutes. Thats plenty long enough, Aside from anything else, 9 minutes is a real drag to stand or lie still for.
If you have sensitive skin dont be tempted by the accelerator creams that they try and sell you. If you have a reaction (like I have in the past) its hell!!What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Deapite having worked on a cancer journal, I must admit I'm wondering whether to have one or two sessions on the bed pre-wedding.
I'm a bit pasty, and look 10 times healthier with a tan. I use gradual tan creams in the summer, but they tend to enhance the yellow hues in my skin, and I never get much of a glow.
Still, there's half of me that still is dead against sunbeds, and would rather be pasty than have freckles & skin like leather by the time I'm 40.
Might give a fakebake a go.
PS thanks Ian for your insightful comments - OH is pretty pale too, hadn't considered the risk of looking like Jordan next to him!0 -
i'd try the sunbeds if i didn't go from blue to white to red to brown (for all of two minutes) and then peel back to white again in normal sun (and that's with slapping on the sun protection)
so i'm just going to go for a fabby fake spray tan to take the paleness of my skin. I've used the spray fake tan plenty of times before as bridesmaid and for other friends weddings and if you let it develop properly and then have a shower before the day it won't come off on the inside of your dress (unless your sweating buckets!)
my OH is disgusting the sun even winks at him and he's brown so i definitely need a bit of colour0 -
I am having a spray tan on the weds night before the wedding on the saturday. Have had them a few times before and never had a problem with colour coming off on my clothes. If you shower and exfoliate each day and keep moisturised there should be no problem with a good quality spray tan.0

I'm a dedicated Fake Bake user, have been for a few years now but even though I apply it like a pro now, I wouldn't use it for my wedding day as it can go wrong and there's no budging it!
I used sunbeds for a few weeks when I was a bridesmaid last year and the year before, and will be doing the same for my wedding this year! I usually start at 6 minutes and work my way up to 10 minutes over a few weeks. We're getting married in Greece so will need a base tan, too many years of no natural sunlight and fake tan has left me rather grey looking without it! (OH sometimes puts his sunglasses on for a laugh when I've got no fake tan on and I'm undressing, the sod!)
Also, good tanning salons will look at your skin and advise on how many minutes to start on and what not to exceed. The one I used to go to even went as far as not allowing a woman to go on one because of how many moles she had, and because a couple of them were big and raised!
I know it goes without saying but just be sensible if using sunbeds.
J xAttitude is a little thing that makes a big difference0 -
I'm hoping that I can get enough of a natural tan by the end of July to not need to go anywhere near a bottle or a sunbed- although this is the UK and I'll therefore have two or three session of 3 or 6 mins just to get rid of any stark white if needed! I'm not sure I want to risk the colour coming off on my dress from a bottle- even if it hasn't done in previous tests!
I'm also really concerned that as a teacher, I'll be outside on nice sunny days- projects, sports, fetes etc. I'm either going to have to 1) hide inside all day, every day 2) wear a turtle-neck jumper 3) wear a strapless top!
My hen do is at the races two weeks before the wedding so I'm carefully planning a strapless sweetheart neckline outfit....0
