For what it's worth there is ridiculous amounts of spam flying about the internet at the minute, where I work we are dealing with about 2000 messages a minute at normal time, (about 6000+ connections at once) - more at night when the spam floods in.

This wouldn't cause DB errors but some people have commented on the speed of the internet in general

It's been occasionally slow for a few weeks, even at 1 am as mentioned above.

Maybe three weeks ago or so it took me twenty-five minutes to do a post and edit it. On another occasion I deleted a post as I noticed I'd double-posted it because of the delay; then I looked closer - no I hadn't, I'd triple-posted it (the whole process to correction took about 40 minutes, with database errors)

Whilst it may be a general internet problem, I'm a bit sceptical of that as this site can often seem slower than others of similar size, taking sometimes 20 or 30 seconds for a 40 post page

2MB/s, with Onspeed compression as well - I don't think it's the proxy doing it, as switching it off doesn't help

I think Martin said the servers have reached maximum capacity yet again. MSE is victim of its own success!!!!

The site is total pants tonight.

It has taken me 12 minutes to load this page to pass comment about the site being so slow.

I wonder how long it will take to post.

If I get one more database error I am going to cry and go mad :mad:

Sod it, I am already mad :mad: bloody 8 minutes to load a page!!!

Oh and the refresh link on the error message doesnt work.
