Here in the wilds of the southern Spanish mountains I'm on MuleBand (otherwise known as dial-up) and although it has been a bit slow, I've not had the huge delays that others have (who I assume are on Broadband) - although I have had a few error messages.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Could it not be a problem with vbulliten itself rather than this site?
While I was waiting for a page to load here, I nipped onto another VB site, which is normally super duper fast, and I got a database error page there, maybe its their database rather than yours
(disclaimer: I am thinking outloud again, I work with PHP so not sure how much it differs from VB)Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

the database will be separate so has nothing to do with another site.0 -

Yeah, thought as much.

Ive been having slow page loads for days, not every time TBH but slow enough for me to surf other pages while waiting and im on a ten megg conection.
Martin said about the search function being a huge drain!
What about putting the search on its own server and its own page and say at the top - searches take ages cos of our massive data base please bear with us etc etc............
maybe thats impossible i dunno?....... just an idea0 -

And I lost the quiz in the arms because I couldnt reply fast enough

I'm not a techie so don't understand any of this but my OH is a bit of a gamer and he's been struggling for a couple of weeks now to play any decent games as the internet has been so slow. It's not just our ISP but many other people have been reporting the same, especially late at night.
Don't know if any of this is relevant but he said people have been saying that the new MAX ADSL has something to do with it and the broaband system in this country just can't cope with demand placed on it, coupled with the fact people are downloading large files on p2p etc late at night to get round their monthly limits.0 -
I would be interested to have a perspectic of this. If we said the average new pc was a server, just how many would there have to be to meet the demands of this site....... Did that make sense0
