ISA fund managers

I'm looking to invest in an ISA fund for the 1st time vs the usual cash ISA i normally go for. I understand I think the benefits of using a broker/manager. I see allot of good reviews about H&L, but at the same time a small amount of very negative reviews. Are H&L the best of the bunch, or are there others that are as good or better?

I've done a few searches on this forum re this subject & I really don't intend to start the whole H&L issues debate again. Perhaps some suggestions of alternatives to H&L & why would be useful.

If you feel this has been answered before just send me the forum link.

Thanks

HL are a good DIY platform. However, you do need to be wary of their marketing (they are not giving advice but selling funds that they are paid to sell by the fund houses). The marketing tends to be high volume as well. So, as long as you take their "recommendations" with a pinch of salt and do your own research then they are fine.

It depends on what you are looking for. They are not geared to direct investments or non commission paying investments. If you want to use those then you can do better. If you only going to use funds then they are fine.

HL are competitive for funds in their ISA or fund and share account. If you'll be using shares they aren't really competitive. What type of investments will you be using?

If you opt out of marketing (just send them a letter) then mail from HL drops off to almost nothing.
