Hi all my first post,
usual thing here asking for advice.. i'm wandering if anyone else recieves any sort of 4 or 5 digit numbers such as 81104 (made up)
i recieve several per month and when read they are just txts from people like o2 and third party companies which somehow have my number.. possibly from rubbish left on internet, not entireley sure on that.
anyway i have noticed that they charge if you txt stop as indicated.. and they must also charge if not txt stop aswell. as last year i rang o2 enquiring about how could i have gone over inclusive amount when it clearly shows that my minutes and txts are well within my inclusive amounts offered each month.
i hope i've got the point across ok.
sorry if not however i will get use to it hopefully just a first post is kinda difficult.
just a few facts
i'm on o2 , i believe i have unlimited txts and 500mins, with free pic msgs. i regularly use at least 200mins and roughly 300txts as indicated by the helpful staff at o2.
i have a decent (ish) phone the nokia smart media touch screen thingy, given to me!!
apart from that i would much appreciate any help.. i was once told to google the number then go onto the suggested site and either unsubscribe or ring whomever it may be and cancel the txt service ..
thanks in advance will be back tomorrow to check answers. by the way how have the more experienced people on here gotten there medal type things , which is shown on peoples left hand side just below there name and join date etc?

If you are unsure about a shortcode then the regulator's website is phonepayplus.org.uk . Put the shortcode into the box and they will tell you who it is, how to cancel and how to get a refund if you are owed one.0

@Andympgs,
If you are receiving shortcodes starting with 8**** then you should also check your bill as you could be getting charged anything from £1.50 to £5.00 for each text.
There are two ways by which you have received these texts;
Either by subscribing to the service (knowingly or unknowingly)
Or
'Cowboy' premium rate companies obtaining your phone details by either purchasing a marketing list or by random sending (Both against the rules of the PR Regulator, Phone Pay Plus). This known as receiving 'Unsolicited Reverse Bill SMS/Texts'.
Sadly there are too many threads on MSE on this subject.

@Andympgs,
If you still have the numbers of the shortcodes post them and I will get you contact info of the companies that have sent them.

There is no need to Google or post the numbers (other than for information) Simply use the regulator's website as above which will give the company contact details, how to stop and complaint process.0

@Andympgs
if you have them post them here as Intasun32 advises.
others can see if the 'companies' have previous form or are presently targeting others.0 -
no problem i will post when i recieve.

Out of interest for others who are being scammed the following numbers are active now: 84010, 61177 and 69113, these 3 numbers are responsible for a total bill of £800 this month via vodafone....unbelievable!!!
Hope this helps ;0)0
