Help on gross misconduct

We regularly get forwarded obviously hoax chain emails from well-meaning but thick as pigsh1t colleagues sent to the whole company as a warning of some ridiculous threat or other. They should be chased.
Obviously intentional spamming of the network of large companies will slow the system down so needs dealing with pronto. Accidentally using the wrong distribution list is, well, an accident'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. !!!!!!! Computer programmes can do allsorts these days so filtering emails for swear words or whatever you want doesn't need a paid drone wading through them.
If the OP's email exchanges contained swearing she is even more of a t1t, if not I'd say the company knew what they were looking for through their bullying behaviour away from the screen.
Of course they can but they don't analyse prose for bullying comment, like you say there may have been other behaviour or a complaint, but that is only guesswork, unless the OP could expand on the circumstances. BTW it is obviously a very small company if the directors are getting directly involved in such matters,'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. When looking to go against the company internet/email policy, it is wise to do so by masking swear words and informing your recipients to do the same. Even better is to write your comments in a notepad file and attach it to the email. Even better, encrypt the communication. Even better, use a web-based email service rather than your exchange server i.e. hotmail, yahoo etc. Even better, use Instant Messenger to communicate - Pidgin is the best as it supports encryption.
Anyways, you will prob get FWW or dismissed. Best to play humble pie.0 -
even better to not go against the company policy in the first place...0

Even better, you (collectively) do something else with your time. Um - work.
As for the person saying that netbooks and iphones are now/more popular in the workplace so that personal can be kept personal - there's something wrong with that sentence.0 -

Why not? a lot of companies go against their own policies, you know the !!!!!!!! policies, I mean, we will show respect for employees, we will respect the environment etc'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. What's wrong with the sentence? It is true, folk can use their devices in their lunchbreaks etc you know?
Small price for peace of mind :cool:0 -

Why not? Oh I see now, when anyone gets sacked for misconduct they can save their jobs by shouting 'it isn't fair! How come they can get away with it and I can't?'
Why not? Because unless the companies lack of policy following is a direct cause of you not following their policies you don't stand the proverbial cat in hells chance.0 -
Just to bring this thread back to the OP. my advice would be to start looking for another job, especially if you are wanting to advance in your career.
You'll have a black mark against you at this company now, and even if you do not get dismissed, you may have a problem advancing in the future. You've marked yourself as not being a team player and being a nasty bully. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant, that is the impression that is now in your Company Director's mind. Not a good situation to be in!
On a side note, I have found that disciplinary for email and net usage is not always done for the sake of it. It is commonly used as a convenient way for managers to start a paper trail against someone 'undesirable' they wish to get rid of. You'd be surprised at how many times an email search will come up with actionable material.0 -
OP, have you got an update on this? Just curious as to how you got on.0
