This is the problem we could be comparing apples and oranges.

You are right without the breakdown you can't compare these prices!

Just to prove your point, I wanted brushed chrome fittings throughout the house but to bring it in on our budget we have had to compromise and only have these in the kitchen .Everywhere else will have the bog standard white. At the end of the day I need this work done from a safety point of view not a cosmetic one.

It really does make a huge difference - especially if you're in London!!!

As others have said, the details/spec etc really matter.

What materials are included in the cost?

London examples I know of (bear in mind these are just in my experience, so there'll be considerable variation around these prices):

full rewire - 3k (mates rates)
Typical - 5k - labour + materials, 3 bed house, part p registered electrician, fully certificated

Totally strip out old conventional plumbing system install combi boiler, new central heating ~(7 rads) and water supplies to kitchen, bathroom and outside toilet, gas safe engineer. Labour and materials - £3150
I think that was a low price for London

Boiler replacement, straight swap, Labour + materials - £1650

Bathroom replumb - currently getting quotes for mine. I'm having plastering, tiling etc done too. The plumbing part alone seems to be around £750-£1000 (there are others on here who'll be able to give you a more accurate idea) That includes basic materials like pipes, valves etc but not the suite/taps

Hope that gives you some idea, but it really does depend on the details, I can elaborate if you like...
    :)

We are in Scotland .Thanks for that breakdown it definetly feels like we are getting a decent deal.Like I said we have known the guy for years and he admitted that he was quiet just now so could start in a couple of weeks time.I think he made the quote competitive so that we went with him.
