Siemens CL75 (poppy) battery problem

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but not to sure where to look. My wife has one of these and it's worked fine for several months, but now the battery doesnt last longer than half a day. I have noticed that when you put the phone on charge it shows a broken battery symbol in the top right hand corner (this symbol is not shown or described anywhere in the 80 page PDF manual online).

So, I got a new battery, and this does the same??? Funny thing is, it must charge the battery a little bit because even the new battery lasts half a day??????

Any suggestions?

is it a pic of a battery with a lightning through it?
i think this just means its on charge (or maybe charged)
make sure you leave it on charg overnight, if still the same then
if it hasnt been liquid damaged then get service center to look at it

It's not really lightning, but I suppose that is what it could be? It is an empty battery in 2 halves, cut down the middle with a zigzag.

Usually it charges and shows an egg hatching when charging on off. I have left his over night on the old battery and the new one. They both charge to a point, and work for half a day or so.
