    Thanks twitwoo, Have already used my S&S ISA this year (10/11) with L&G. It was my attempt at putting my money where my mouth is - but why I chose to go direct to L&G after the million and one questions I asked on this board I cannot answer! - Its all a learning curve though.

    btw, what does AIM stand for? I keep reading about them/it but have no idea.

    Have set up an ii account and can see how to place atrade,... but how do I place a trade using the £1.50 portfolio builder? ... the rubbish online and web help is of no use and I can't give them a call at the moment.

    You can still transfer it to HL for no cost and then switch the funds to HSBC versions to get the lower TER.
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
