using a 2-pin plug in the uk

cool (yes it is a figure 8 type slot), so it is safe to use with a regular european plug adaptor.
I will still contact scan/epson and see if they can send a 3-pin lean, otherwise if they ask to reyurn the whole printer, and it involves a lot of faffing about then i will carry on using the adaptor - so long as it doesn't invalidate the warranty.0 -
Yes it is safe because there is no earth cable and you can just get one of the adaptors and it will be happy enough to work.0

Alternatively, stick and twist a piece of wood in the mains earth pin socket to open the live and neutral and just insert the two pins.
Not my first choice of solution, I'd put a UK plug on it but it will work.
Clearly be careful, don't use metal, make sure the switch is off etc. but you know all that anyway I'm sure.0 -
If Scan don't send you a cable with a UK three-pin plug on it you might point out to them that they could well be in breach of the Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Most firms which sell electrical stuff from (e.g.) the US or the EU include a British 3-pin plug and cable, and don't bother to remove the original US or EU cable.

It's actually illegal to sell electrical equipment in the UK without a proper square-pin plug!

Phone the supplier and ask him to send one. If there's any argument, quote the above Statutory Instrument. He could be prosecuted if you report him.0
