Hello
I bought a epson r240 printer, but when i opened the box, the power supply connects to a 2-pin outlet, unlike the standard 3-pin one's i was expecting
I looked at the instructions, and it appears that the wire supplied is correct, but their support (i.e. to be able to talk to someone are closed until monday) as is the shop i bought it from.
Do i continue to unpack the printer, installl it etc and use a travel plug adaptor? Or waituntil monday and ask them to send a proper power cord?
Or, any other sggesteions, much appreciated.
Thanks

I'd be tempted to wait for a 3 pin plug lead myself but if it's UK spec then maybe an adapter will be ok.0

Where did you buy it from? At a guess I would say Pixmania as they ship from france though normally include a free adaptor plug.
If it is anywhere from europe then you simply need an adaptor as all of europe including the UK uses the same electricity settings and it is just the plugs that vary... if you look at the back it should say what it is designed to accept - for Europe/ UK it should say something like 220-240v 50-60hz then it is fine to useAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

i bought it from Scan Computers, it does say 220-240v and 50-60hz, so am assuming it's a european thing. I have a travel adaptor (worldwide i think) but would that say, on the actual adaptor, if it's possible to use it. i.e. i am assuming it has written on it the "voltage" parameters, so if it falls within 220-240 then that's ok?
Scan are usually ok, but are closed on sundays, and epson cs are closed at the weekend.
just don't want the thing to blow up on me when i switch it on :rolleyes:0 -
It is up to you ultimately (I will accept no liability for burning your house down
) but the power requirements on it are the standard UK and identical to my epson printer.

it's probably safe, but i suppose i can wait a day and a bit to vent off to scan and then epson - so back in the box it goes, beacause it will just annoy me in the end, it will probably mean having to take the printer back - if it does then i will just use an adaptor in the end, as that just seems like a lot more hassle than it's worth!

What is the style of the printer power slot. If it is a 8 slot that it is ok to use as the earth pin is platic on the 3 pin uk plug.0
-
The printer power slot, is also a 2-pin/socket style, like the one's you may have seeen on old-style radio/cassette players.0
-
So it is like a figure 8 on its side then it is safe because there is no earth cable.0

chop the plug off and wire up a normal 3 pin - removes hassle of adapters. This is not an automated signature. I write this at the bottom of every message0
