and that will end up with the op not having a job

id look for another job OP

I think I really do need to look for another job.

    Last night was awful.

We usually get given a pen to check notes for forgery's.

Last night I wasn't given one and the supervisor said to me "How are you checking your notes".

I told her that I hadn't been given a pen and she said that I had to ask for one in future.

Then to top it all at the end of my shift the manager callled me over and said that a customer had complained that I was grumpy and had not packed their clothes appropriately.

Is this job really worth the £22 I earn a day after deductions? :o

Read up on the rules and play the system as if you ever get screwed over and can prove that you worked within the rules then you can sue the !!! off them. Have you had all the relevant training. DSE tests, work place assessments, safety training and HSE work place assessments as well as making sure their are enough first aiders on the premises and that a standard fire drill is run and the alarms tested as they should be.

I know the tills have out of date stickers on them for electrical testing.

Just rang the local council to try and get on a child-minding course.

I have my neighbour's son with me at the moment because he was sick at school this morning.

The course is full at the moment, so I will have to keep trying.

Thanks for everyone's help and advice.

I'll just ask the supervisor for a pen.
  • Sounds like you are not happy there, change jobs or departments. I would have asked for a pen if it was me, sometimes you have to use some common sense. Good luck :)

I know I probably should have asked for a pen but I think I am just a bit ground down by the whole situation :o

It's part of her job to talk to you about this as fake notes do pose a revenue loss to the business - you know that staff need to check them so you should have asked for a pen.

Were you grumpy? Your unhappiness in the job may be showing in your attitude... how did you pack the clothes? Is there a way that the company likes them to be packed?

Do you think that maybe because you are feeling low that you are taking these things a bit more personally? The more you seem down at work the more misunderstood you may be to others.

How do the others get on with things? Do they have the same problems?

Regarding changing jobs, no matter where you work there is always a chance that there will be another supervisor or manager that you don't see eye-to-eye with..... is there any way you can make things better where you are now?

I think leaving will probably be my only option.

Just selling some bits and I am thinking if I make £22 I might not go in today.

It just seems a lot of hassle for £22 per shift at work.

If you just don't go in then you will be breaching your contract (plus letting people down) and running the risk of it being mentioned on any reference from them.

I don't think you are thinking about this logically - you need to carry on working until you find another job or, if you really feel you must leave ASAP, resign properly and work your notice.

Sometimes we just have to get on with it.
