Rang Sky told them I wanted to cancel my contract, she asked if she could help in any way, I said' what are you offering' she said' pay £35 to have the box repaired' I said' No thanks I am not paying for that and I want to cancel today which she did.I will be in credit next month and they will refund my money.
Decided not to go with Virgin- out of the fry pan into the fire senario, will just have freestat from my Sky box. £120 per yr better off now.
Thanks to all for your input much appreciated.

Any link for that I have a friend with Virgin and she is fed up paying them a fortune.

As it is freeview do they take away their box, which is cable, and give you something else?
    Any set up costs?

But why would you want to pay VM £19.49pm to give you a Freeview service that is free anyway with an aerial?
You have to take a VM phone line with this package at £12.99
Cost of an aerial maybe £100.
The M sub with VM is an 18m contract and will cost you £350.82.

Not quite the "don't cost a bean" suggested

    Really ?

I pay £28 per month for TV M+ (includes a V+ box), Phone L (free w/end and evening calls), phone line rental and BB L. My monthy bills show that I pay nothing for TV !! You just need to negotiate with them to get a good deal.

For info on TV M look at http://www.digitalchoices.co.uk/free-digital-tv-from-virgin-media.html.

Just give VM a call and ask about TV M (their free TV service offer).

By the way, I didn't even pay any installation costs either for any of my VM services.

^^thanks for the link, although I can't see anything about that now on Virgin's site.

As for it not costing it is included in your £28 a month so you still pay Virgin.

You need to give Virginmedia a call and ask about TV M. I don't know why they don't promote it on their website; may be something to do with it being a free service so why promote something that doesn't generate money.

One of my friends told me about TV M many years ago. Couldn't find anything on their website so I phoned them up and asked to get it without any probs.

VM do promote TV M+ on their website at http://shop.virginmedia.com/digital-tv/tv-size-m-plus.html.

This is just TV M with a few more channels added but you have to pay VM for the privilege.

I have been with VM for many years and they have given me TV M+ at no cost to me. I just negotiated with them by advising that I was looking to move over to Sky.

With VM, you can also get Sky Sports added for a month and just pay a subscription for that month. Great for me when I watched the Ryder Cup last year.

Yes....I pay £28 per month for Broadband L, phone line rental and phone L. I am not charged anything for my TV M+ or my V+ box.

Sky rang me today about my cancellation, said she did not want to lose my custom and could they replace the faulty box at no charge and any time after the new installation if it went wrong, I could have an engineer out free of charge as many times as i need, also said, if you want other packages added we may be able to sort it for you without having to have a new contract free of charge as a good will gesture.
Told her okay, but if I am not happy about things in the future I will go to Virgin as I have had loads of problems with this box and no help from the Help Desk. She confirmed this new deal in an e mail.

queen1e - what is the make and model of your TV? Or to be more basic, if it has an HD-Ready logo then you'll be able to get 720 HD at least, and if it says Full HD anywhere that would mean 1080. You'll then need an HD tuner to plug into it - eg Sky HD, Freesat HD, Freeview HD.
