What about Heaton Hall and the Orangery at Heaton Park, Prestwich - here.
I've never been, don't know anyone who has, but being a local gal it has always appealed to me and, had I been living up that way still, would have been one place I would consider.
Incidentally there is also a Travelodge or Premier Inn or somat within walking distance - Middleton Road.
Info here about Heaton Hall etc.If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
Your welcome. Don't rely on the internet for info because there isn't much I mean there is a lot more now than when we first looked at it but still not much but we have accidentaly met a few people who got married there and they have all said how wonderful the staff and the food was. I am desperate to try this food seen as it is all anyone goes on about when you mention the place!Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

2010 wins: approx £2198
2011 wins value so far: approx £650

Maybe have a look at Rivington Barn if it's not too far http:// www. rivingtonhallbarn .co .uk/weddings (Sorry can't post the link properly as i'm a newbie).
You can hold the ceremony here and also the evening reception. If you have never been then it is a really lovely area, and not to far from a Holiday Inn if anyone wants to stay nearby0 -

This does look stunning but they're very regimented aren't they? Minimum of 200 guests if only having 1 meal? I don't think I know that many people let alone want them at my wedding :rotfl:
And telling you what time the evening buffet is? I'd rather pick that for myself tbh.
It's a lovely place plus only 30 minutes away but far too formal and set in stone for my tastes. Thanks for the heads up though.
I've spotted this place which looks stunning, if its cheap enough I can always hire a coach to get people back to Manchester.
Or there's here or even here
Heaton Orangery is lovely but they insist on using their own caterers and don't offer the alfresco option as its set in a public park and I've heard loads of horror stories about weddings at Bredbury Hall.
Sometimes the staff can take exception to some of the guests. There was one wedding not too long ago where the best man fell foul of their no tattoos policy for the nightclub (he had a small tattoo on his wrist which got spotted) and got ejected for the entire reception
We were going to go abroad but MIL2B has a heart condition and can't afford the insurance to go and I wouldn't want him to get married without his mum there.0 -
Hi there,
Are you sure Heaton Hall insist on using their own caterers? We got married there in 2009 and we could have used outside caterers.
I also have to say the staff were fabulous all the way through and went beyond expectations before and on the day.
Good luck finding somewhere, I hope you find your perfect place

Came across this list, while having another nosey around. The Museum of Science and Industry would be an intersting venue!
Another nice looking pub, The White Hart, though it might be a bit isolated! If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
We're having ours at the Bluebell @ The Joshua Bradley in Hyde - we love it but it might not be grand enough for you. We also looked at The Hey Green over Saddleworth way which is very grand from the outside, has amazing grounds and loads of space. You also get the full run of the place so noone else will be there and it has a few bedrooms. The decor wasn't to our taste though and when we visited on a weekday evening it smelled a little musty - but this is probably because they hadn't had a wedding the weekend before and therefore the rooms hadn't been used or properly aired.0

Hiya, yes I heard the owner can be a bit obnoxious and domineering. Apparently they went as far as to search guests rooms to make sure no alcohol had been smuggled in :eek:0
