Hi, some advice please. One (new) aerial, down to box 1, aerial extended to box 2, extended to 3.
1 and 2, no problems/100 channels, but 3 will only (20 x !!/different days), download 90 channels, missing out importantly ch 3/4/5/6, and some others.
All 3 boxes are new/same. Have switched boxes/rooms and they work fine on 1 and 2.
IS it because the aerial to 3 is too long ?? Is it worth investing in a booster. Is there one ? Advice please. It is getting infuriating.
The idea was to keep my old tvs and just bung a box on them, not having to get Sky +, or receiver/recorders
There is probably 80 feet of cable by the time it reaches box 3

Sounds like the signal is being degraded into each successive box.
Ideally you would have a mast head amplifier and a separate feed for each receiver.
Otherwise fit the distribution amplifier as near as you can to where the aerial down lead enters the property and split your feeds from there. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Hi, the signal has deteriorated by the time it reaches the 3rd tv. How have you 'extended' the cable to the other tvs?, if it is split properly before the 1st tv then sent to each you should normally be ok , however some times just shortening a cable to the last tv at bit at a time can improve the situation, this is due to 'standing waves' which can effect the signal. In effect you are 'tuning' the cable to get the least disruption.0

Each time you split the signal it gets weaker so probably by the time it gets to box 3 it is quite weak.
A booster would be better.

All leads should be split from one location.
As above there are numerous issues this distribution system can bring in.0 -

Plenty of web pages and books tell you how to fit extra TV points correctly. A search finds lots. http://www.google.com/search?&q=%22How+to+Fit+Extra+TV+Points%220
