    I recently paid £25 - in Scotland.
  • We've had a certificate of inspection/sweeping each time our sweeps been. He is a member of the chimney sweep's guild/board/whatever it's called. I don't know if it's a requirement though. We paid £76 for 2 chimneys on Saturday.

We are also having a stove next year and yes you do need either a buildings inspector sign off your work or have it installed by a HETAs engineer. Our sweep is a HETAs bod so you may find a local sweep could be too. You will need (for safety's sake) to ensure your chimney is in sound enough condition for a stove or it will need lining. (very expensive).

    Hope this helps. :)
