i bought an item on the 17.11.06 and paid the same day through paypal,
postage was £5 (described as 1st class standard, 1 working day) and i needed it by the Wednesday, giving him 2/3 working days to complete, the transaction,
its Saturday and still havnt had the item, can i get a refund or would a neg feedback be worthy?

Hvw you actually contacted the seller? It would be a bit unfair to neg him if he hasn't done anything wrong (e.g. the item got lost in the post). Also first class post is a bit rubbish these days. I find it can take anything from 1 day to a week (6 weeks in one case!).0

Did you notify the seller that you needed it by a certain date? You can't take these things for granted, it's best to get an assurance of a postage date.My TV is broken!

Whislt most sellers would ship in about 3 days there is no requirement for them to actually work that fast. Paypal only require items to be despatched within 7 days of payment, after which seller loses their seller protection.
Talk to your seller, see what they say, as others have suggested this might be simply stuck in the post somewhere which is completely beyond the control of your seller.
If you get no satisfaction from the seller and if you have other concerns, for instance feedback starts to deteriorate, then you can start a paypal chargeback, however that still will not release you from your obligation to buy as the seller could ship when he sees that chargeback. Even if the seller fails to respond to your chargeback it can take a couple of weeks before paypal reimburse you.
Whatever you decide to do it is too early yet for leaving feedback. It alway slook sodd when a buyer leaves a neg too soon after auction ends..and if you get a neg in return, which is likely then it will reflect on your buying history.
If you ever so want something ultra urgently then talk to the seller before you bid and make sure they can get it to you when required.

As long as a seller posts promptly. negging someone because an item is delayed is unfair.
Sellers cannot be held responsible for loss or delay by Royal Mail. A neg in such circumstances would only be fair if he had delayed dispatch beyond a reasonable period or did not assist when made aware of the loss by RM and a reasonable time had expired to give the item a chance to turn up.
Royal Mail will not treat an item as lost until 15 days have expired. I dont make my customers wait that long but on day 3 or 4 if they start complaining about non receipt I point out RMs timescale and ask them to wait at least a week.
I would always advise if buying something to meet a deadline e.g. a birthday to opt for Special Delivery or another guarenteed service just in case this scenario happens.0 -
It's actually 15 working days, which makes it 3 weeks in most cases.kevinyork wrote:Royal Mail will not treat an item as lost until 15 days have expired.
It would be very unfair to neg a seller without contacting them first when it's only been 8 days since payment was made, and if a customer did that to me I would block them from bidding on my auctions.
Chances are the item is in the post, and therefore outwith the seller's control. I'd send them a polite message asking when it was posted, and if necessary wait a couple of days or so for a response.
Did they specify a handling time in the listing? I would not assume an item would be posted in 1-2 working days unless the seller said it would be, nor would I assume that Royal Mail would deliver it within 1-2 working days of posting unless it were Special Delivery. Many sellers only post a couple of times a week, and delays in the post are common, so if I needed something in a hurry I'd ask the seller to send it Special Delivery (if it wasn't already listed as a postage option).0 -

Don't try putting this on your auction, folks, it doesn't hold water!
Sellers need to refund or replace in the event of an item gone awol, if they don't want trouble from pp and ebay.My TV is broken!

Hi I always post as soon as payment cleared however:
I sent a parcel on the 6/11 buyer did not recieve it until 20/11 (it was sent standard parcels) however after a lot of agro it was sitting at his local sorting office !! Maybe it's worth a check!! postie does not always leave a card!
Post does seem slow at the mo, but if you needed it by a required time i think you should have ASQ first!0 -
Fay, I wasnt meaning that they (the seller) are not responsible for sorting out the problem if ultimately an item is lost but delay and loss by Royal Mail are not something a buyer should blame the seller for or neg them for. In fact a seller should get extra credit for sorting out Royal Mail's !!!! up.
Every eBay listing does say below the postage prices that sellers are not responsible for delivery times. I wish more buyers understood this.0 -
Yes i agree totally, i spent hours last W/E trying to ring my buyers local sorting office cos they would not get off there lazy backside and check!kevinyork wrote:

I am quite happy to refund, but at the end of the day, as a seller you hand over parcel at PO and pay, what more can you do!!!:mad:0 -
