that is a brilliant idea Kriss Boy. It will add to the excitement and anticipation.
Go to a charity shop and and have a look at rings - plastic, or real or fun, etc.0 -
Check it in if you are worried about getting rumbled. That increases the chance of loss, but irrelevant it appropriately insured.
The critical things are the certification and valuation.
No!
Valuables like jewellery should be carried as hand luggage. No insurance company would pay up for jewellery lost from checked baggage.0 -
I think you should give her the actual ring. I think it would ruin my mood a bit if I am told that after I've shed my tears-of-joy I actually am wearing a dummy. Imagine the sparkle in her eyes once she receives it. I bet she won't stop staring at her ring after that. I would be extra touched if I knew what my guy went through to keep it safe until the "moment". Just my opinion0

Ah yes, good point. I just checked my policies, and you are absolutely correct.
I guess one solution might be to have it shipped to your destination ahead of time ? (again, using a properly insured carrier).
Personally I'd just keep it in hand luggage - I had no problem doing that recently - airport security didn't fuss about it.Legal team on standby0 -
The cheap ring is an amazing idea because Ive had a photobook made on photobox.com to propose with.
Its a storyboard of how we met then the last page is a pic is the ring!
So it would be cool to propose with the cheap one and say the ring in the picture is waiting for her at home!
