Well I am now job hunting again, my employer despite knowing I had a disabled child before starting work and them agreeing to allow me time off for hospital appointments refused me time off making me take a full day holiday for a 10 minute appointment despite working for minimum wage and doing on call duties for nothing.
After being told on numerous occasions if i dont like it, leave, and being told if I am looking for another job they dont want me there etc etc, it got unbearable, after being shouted and sworn at last week I handed in my notice. Employer didnt want me to work it so dismissed me immediatley.
They are now advertising my job with above average package and a company car, bearing in mind it is a recruitment cosultnat job and I was underpaid for what I did the normal pay for a trained recruitment consultant is around £15000 to £18000, so if they are advertising an above average package it must be the top end or more of this, plus a company car!!!!!! I couldnt even have half a day off upaid!
Cant help feeling harshly done by, I worked so god damn hard!

Did your employer not have a Parental Leave policy? http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworkentitlements/WorkAndFamilies/Parentalleaveandflexibleworking/DG_10029416 It includes extended rights for parents of disabled children.
It is however unpaid; you have to have worked for the employer for a year (unless they have more generous terms); and my workplace insists on a whole day's PL being taken, not part-days.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

it was agreed before contracts were signed that in my circumstances due to me doing them a huge favour doing on call outside of the 40 hours per week office hours for no extra pay they would offer me the flexibility to take my daughter to hospital. I worked there 4 months and only once asked for this time off, I would have preferred to have taken the unpaid time off as it was just a short appointment, but they wouldnt let me. Despite doing no less than 5 hours on call every week.
The contracts didnt state you couldnt take half day holiday it was only when I queried it they told everyone they would make an ammendment to the contracts to state this.
To be honest I dont know what policies they have, I have left now, but feel discriminated against they let others turn up half an hour late or leave half an hour early but because I could not dictate hospital clinic times I needed this flexibility mid morning.0 -
I am sure there is something in the Equality Act 2010 regarding associated discrimination for dependants, not sure if it applies or what it says but will have a read and come back to you!0

You do know that article is from 2008 before the Equality Act right?The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Gosh you sell yourself short :eek: RC's average wage is 20 - 30k + bonuses. You sure you weren't hired as a trainee? Either way, how long were you there? Perhaps you could file for unfair dismissal, and if not, certainly discrimination. Best people to talk to are the CAB, they were great with me when i had a similar prob few years backThe only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -

Well considering I am over 30, I mos definitley wasnt a trainee, a trainee most certainly would not have had on call duties , it was something I hadnt condiered doing before but I took to it straight away! I would have been happy with £15000-£18000.
I was there for 4 months, and I resigned due to the reasons above.0 -
The only thing I didnt have confidence in was the sales side of things, I dealt directly with clients and was responsible for the HGV desk, loved the job but was not getting paid properly.0

Just because you are over 30 doesn't mean you cant be a trainee, people change jobs and retrain all the time.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
