Virgin Media Query-New contract?

Hey all

I'm looking for some advice.. I wonder whether anyone has been in a similar position as I'd rather ask around first before I contact Virgin direct.

I have been with Virgin Media for at least 3 years and have their tv and broadband package costing £30. I moved house last October (unsure whether this will have any affect on the contract).

Anyway, I will be going travelling in June for a year and I dont know whether it would be worth changing the direct debit to my dads name and he can carry on paying as normal or whether it would be possible to cancel the contact and then my dad join as a new customer and hopefully get a better deal?

Any information would be fantastic.

Cancel the contract and have your dad join as a new customer. I only say that because if you are going away you don't want a contract in your name just in case something happens

Should at least be able to get some quidco that way.

Moving house last October will have started you on a new 12m contract, so if you do cancel you'll have 6m ETC to pay.

Thanks for this. Is it common practice for a change of address to equate to a new contract even though you have been with them for several years previously?

any changes to the package trigger a new contract

It's not just a change of address-they have to reprovision the service at the new address, that costs them money-he trade off is a new 12m contract. As custardy says, any change with VM, however minor, starts you on a new 12m contract.
