BBC i-player on mobile system

As a night-time truck driver, I get really bored with the limited post-midnight offerings of ClassicFM and BBC Radio 2/World Service
If I get a tablet computer, will it work in my cab? Will the speeds support BBC i-player? How long will the battery last?
Thanks
MMM
ps - How many GBs would I need?

I've used BBC Iplayer on two different mobiles, but you need to use Wlan rather than dial-up to access it for most providers.0

I guess I'd kind of assumed that mobile internet would be a bit like home broadband - just switch on and go!

It is switch on and go - you just go and try to find somewhere that it will work.
Forget about iPlayer on 3G on a regular basis - you'll either find it's too slow to be watchable or it will chew through your bandwidth allowance like crazy.0 -
Depends on what type of tablet you go for..
if it's an Android / Ipad then you won't get great playback via 3G
What you could do is look into getting a cheap Windows/Linux/Mac (is there such a thing as a cheap Mac? lol) Laptop and a Digital TV USB stick, then you'll get all the FreeView channels without the worrying of Bandwith charges.Laters

:j I can't vouch for the quality of I Player when streaming in various situations. However I download loads of BBC programmes on to a computer (save for mobile device) and then transfer them to my Galaxy Tab via Windows Media Player. I can then watch them abroad for around 30 days. You cannot store these programmes on an IPad (or at least version 1) which is why I went for an Android device. This arrangement means you aren't dependent on 3G. Happy watching!0
