Had a call from someone claiming to be from Virgin Media. It could of been as I know they use overseas call centre and he quoted my home number.
He said their systems showed my broadband was slow due to a virus on my computer.
I told him I can't do anything with my computer (laptop) as it belonged to work and he seemed disappointed I didn't have my own computer.
Could this be some sort of scam ??

Yes it's a scam.
Some try to get you to sign up for a Virus removal service - which doesn't exist.
Others talk you into giving your card details out including the CVV2
and go on a spending spree.0 -
100% scam.
These crop up every couple of months.
Think about it how are they ever ever going to be able to know there is a virus on your pc.
Its a scam that is normally carried out by companys over in eastern europe and asia.
Avoid like the plage and if your worrried download any free virus checker from the interweb.
I see a lot of these coming in a dispute at work. AVOID0 -
Hi,
Yep, it's a well known scam. The guys on the techy board will be able to tell you more about it, so I'll move your query across there.Forum_Team wrote:Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies.
