Hi guys, going in for my first visit 'in a few hours' as it is already morning, lol. Checked an old receipt yesterday which gave me 18p voucher, lol. I have read all through the forum tonight but still have a few questions please. I intend on getting the baking tins apparently £10 each so 2 making £20 , in Asda equivalent 2 for £8 making a DTD of £24 is that right, and if so will I only get £20 back on my pricecheck, oh and also should I buy it on it's own or with other items ( and should these be same price as Asda:question:? Also does that mean if I want to buy anything else that is dearer in Asda I am best buying in another transaction because then it will go well over the £20 further? However I am reading people spending large vouchers of £40 plus , how did they get these or were they before Tesco capped it at £20? Last question , if I have some things on the recipt that are cheaper in Tesco will they add it all up and subtract it off so saying the shop was not so more expensive and so get a lowed DTD? so confused still , can somebody please help , you all seem absolute pros at this , I am slow taking up this offer , normally I am so on the ball with offers.0

Carlsberg 20x440 cans are 16.99 at tesco 13.00at asda DTD 7.98 makes them £8/£9
You'd have got 24 cans for £4 if you'd gone to a tesco express tonight!0 -
Im new on the Price Check scene, i think i've got what it's all about. Take these Lynx shower gels for example, currently selling in T for £2.37 and there in Asdas for £1 or 4 for £3. Would this mean i get £2.74 back in vouchers for every lynx i purchased, or am i just working this out wrong?
As for the offer goes, 4 for £3, which makes then 75p each, does this mean if i was to purchase 4 lynx at 4 for £3 in A for £2.37 each in T i would get £3.24 back for every one purchased, so for the four i would get £12.96 back in T vouchers for every 4 lynx bought at £2.37 in Tesco?
Im guessing it's been answered so sorry for this question, if anyone does actually get it lol0 -
Sooo for someone who created (several) spreadsheets to avoid getting flustered in the shop i failed EPICALLY!!!!:mad:
Don't ever be so hard on yourself. I've a degree in mathematics, and a PhD in Engineering and I make mistakes every time I go in. All I do to correct is normally spend a bit more than the £20.
Your help today with the spreadsheets has been nothing but amazing. I'm hoping we can move forward with it now and edit as it comes but I can't lock individual cells so only people allowed to edit it will be those who PM me - feel free to PM me as I've lost all e-mails from earlier.
You're fantastic, remember that! :beer:I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I don't think any of us knew they were on 4 for £3. We'll all be getting them now - and yes, you're correct! :jI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

My bad, just looked on the asda website (lynx twist shower gel) the £2.37 in T is the 250ml where as the 4 for £3 in asda are the 50ml ones. I didn't even know they had 50ml shower gels. So i guess it would still work on the T: £2.37 A: £1.00 ones though, sorry should have double checked before posting0 -

Try a small shop first and get to grips. Many of us have been doing this for weeks and even we make mistakes.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
OMG, this promotion is actually INCREDIBLE!
I only started doing this a few days ago after following this thread with interest for a good week-or-so, but i'm already completely addicted - in fact, it's taken over my life! My days now consist of a routine somewhat like the following:
Wake up. Check this thread. Go to work. Check this thread. Compile shopping list. Go to Tesco in lunch break. Back to work - input receipt and check this thread. Do a miniscule amount of work. Go home. Check this thread. Compile another shopping list. Back to Tesco. Back home - input receipt. Cook dinner (provided by Tesco). Promise myself an early night. Check this thread. End up staying up til 1am reading because every time I get to the end of one page, two more pages of new posts have appeared! :rotfl: FINALLY get to the end of the thread and get to sleep, only to wake up in the morning and start the cycle all over again!
I think it's safe to say i'm just a little obsessed . My poor family and friends will be thinking i've disowned them - my entire life at the moment is Tesco!
I have to say though, Tesco are actually geniuses for coming up with this - we may all be thinking that this promotion isn't good for them because they're dishing out lots of vouchers, but for every one of us who gets a voucher, I guarantee there are thousands upon thousands of people who are shopping at Tesco who just think "oh look, Tesco refund double if they're not cheaper than Asda - guess I may as well keep shopping in Tesco rather than changing to Asda then!", and thousands more who don't even know about the promotion at all and just continue shopping at Tesco regardless. Then of course there's the fact that all of us are completely addicted and are now going to Tesco several times per day, so we end up spending even more in there than we normally would. It may not look like it to us bargain hunters, but i'm sure Tesco know EXACTLY what they're doing, and i'm even more sure that they're loving the fact that this promotion is keeping more people in Tesco and out of Asda!
It's hilarious though - i've only had 4 small vouchers so far, and my experiences have been very varied (all in one medium sized store in the north - that's the only one near me):
First time was for a voucher around £10 - the till girl looked at it and asked what it was, so I told her it was from Tesco's price check promotion. She said she needed to call a supervisor - the supervisor came over and said "oh yes, that's from our price check with Asda - i'll need to see your Asda receipt" :rotfl: Luckily, the girl on the next till over said "no, it's a Tesco thing, you just scan it, type in the amount, and sign their old Tesco receipt" - she knew her stuff!
The next time was a complete breeze - £14 voucher, gave it to the girl on the till, she scanned it, typed in the amount, laughed and said "wow, that's AMAZING, you owe me 8p now!"
The next time the cashier didn't know what to do so he called a supervisor but she didn't know either, so I asked them to try scanning it and it obviously worked. I had to tell them that they needed to sign my old receipt to stop me printing off another voucher though!
The most recent one was only a very small one that I actually got when doing my main weekly shop (which I wasn't even trying to get a voucher on, but still got one for £1.50!) - as it was only small I thought i'd use it at a self scan till to buy a sandwich for lunch - I scanned my sandwich, scanned my voucher and the till screams out "APPROVAL NEEDED!" as loud as anything (way louder than it does when you buy alcohol!) - the attendant came over, looked at the voucher, and said "ummm, I don't know what this is, but it doesn't say what it's to be spent on... is it for sandwiches?" :rotfl: I had to tell her that it was for anything and I explained the price check promotion to which she looked really bewildered as though I was mad to suggest that Tesco gave it to me, and just approved it!
So funny how in just one store you can have so many different experiences! It's been absolutely hilarious reading all of your funny stories on here - i'm sometimes sitting at the computer laughing so hard I start crying!
LONG MAY IT CONTINUE - THANK YOU TESCO, AND THANK YOU TO ALL THE WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL PEOPLE ON HERE WHO POST ALL THE DEALS AND STORIES! :beer:0
