Afternoon everyone, and a lovely one at that!:)

Has anyone had any problems getting their DTD Vouchers? I am still waiting for ones from the 15th and 16th. I went back in to the Tesco website and re-entered my details and had the message back which said "thank you for entering...." and not what I expected "we are already dealing with this". It seems as if they had never received my 3 applications over these two days!

Guess I will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Good morning and good luck CL. I've only done about 3 DTD shops as well. I still can't get my head around mixing dtd and n/a items, and buying a certain number of each item and making sure I've got the right size, shape, colour, smell etc  - I don't have a 'proper' phone to check once I'm at T's, so have to try to make up a list at the last minute.

    Enjoy your day out :)

I'm sticking to just one or two DTD items per T visit as finding it difficult to concentrate with kids at home for Easter hols . If its still going will get more organised in May. But have had some lovely treats even so.
Neither of my T's had the Quantum starter kit left yesterday. Still MOC has a nice long date.
Mozzy's are doing 5p off a litre of petrol next week if you spend £40. Not sure any of us will be spending that much in Mozzy's but could try a womble :)

    Dawnie very confused.com.
Went to look at house yesterday - its LOVELY, 3 bed detached farm house next to working farm, out buildings, huge fully enclosed garden (perfect for dogs) plus further enclosed garden area (current tenant growing veggies/herbs and keeping chickens there). Rooms are really big and the house is very spacious with a cosy/warm feel i loved it. Couple of eeeks in that its oil central heating (expensive), also in the kitchen they have a massive double oven that they're running on Calor Gas - she wants £450 for the oven but itd be far too big for me and my neighbour has offered me a nice gas cooker f.o.c but don't know if i can use normal gas cooker with calor gas or if i can get it converted. Anyway love the house very very isolated etc. But ........ someone came to view my current house yesterday and afterwards took me to one side and said if they bought it would i be interested in staying as a tenant???? Itd save the hassle of moving etc but would mean a) still long journey to work/lots of petrol, i'd have to put solid fencing up to sort dog problem out (as saw neighbours dog yesterday and he now has a nose piercing thanks to my crazy pyscho dog!!). I dont know what to do, and don't feel like i'm in control of my own life at the moment.

I used to have oil central heating and found it much cheaper and much warmer than gas. But is the house so large it will cost a fortune to keep warm.

I agree with the other poster, make a list one side pros and one side cons. Yes a pro might be a lovely old house, but on the con side is it just too big for you.

Again travelling time and cost, is it near enough to create a large saving on petrol and time, bear in mind such a large garden will eat into your free time for its upkeep.
Its nice to have no near neighbours, but is it too isolated, more than you can stand, or put up with, think of in an emergency situation. Do you live alone, if not what is the opinion of your partner.

Don't buy the lovely cooker, if its too large for you it will be an expensive piece of kitchen equipment. Get an electric cooker which you can easily take with you to different properties if you move again in the future. Or get one free from freecycle.

Like I said, make a very long list before you decide, but remember the man who came to view your house might not buy it anyway.

    Good luck

    :)

Hi Busylizzie, I wasn't sure if the dtd worked in with the 2 for £10 when I got some Quantums from Mr T's and mine only had a couple left, so I bought those
as they were only costing me the price of the papers (a bird in the hand and all that). :) I then went to Asda, where they were £5 each. I still couldn't get my head round dtd, so used the rest of my vouchers up there.

They were also on offer at Sainsbury's, where I think they were £5.08 each.

Might be an idea to keep an eye on the prices in case they all go back up to £10-ish whilst the £5-off offer is on.

    Hope this makes sense ;)

  • hi Dawnie, I agree with the other posters about pros and cons list. But when you have your con list, go through each one and try to solve it (do you have anyone you can talk to that can be impartial and question you without giving you a solution straight away?). If you dig and dig at each con and find a solution, sometimes it is a solution that is acceptable/workable to you. It also makes each con seem less daunting and scary.

As for the cooker, there is an Old Time or Old School thread on here that talks about slow cookers and also halogen cookers that run on electricity for pennies. I would think that you could get away without an oven if you had these 2 plus a microwave for reheating. When I moved into my house it was to an existing elec cooker which I do not like compared to gas. As a result I hardly ever use it, just for oven chips & pizzas which I can live without (I can, can't I?!!??) and roast meat which apparently can be done in a halogen oven.

The new place does sound idyllic though, the way you described it, so I'm wondering if you haven't already made up your mind but not yet realised it?
