Went to look at house yesterday - its LOVELY, 3 bed detached farm house next to working farm, out buildings, huge fully enclosed garden (perfect for dogs) plus further enclosed garden area (current tenant growing veggies/herbs and keeping chickens there). Rooms are really big and the house is very spacious with a cosy/warm feel i loved it. Couple of eeeks in that its oil central heating (expensive), also in the kitchen they have a massive double oven that they're running on Calor Gas - she wants £450 for the oven but itd be far too big for me and my neighbour has offered me a nice gas cooker f.o.c but don't know if i can use normal gas cooker with calor gas or if i can get it converted. Anyway love the house very very isolated etc. But ........ someone came to view my current house yesterday and afterwards took me to one side and said if they bought it would i be interested in staying as a tenant???? Itd save the hassle of moving etc but would mean a) still long journey to work/lots of petrol, i'd have to put solid fencing up to sort dog problem out (as saw neighbours dog yesterday and he now has a nose piercing thanks to my crazy pyscho dog!!). I dont know what to do, and don't feel like i'm in control of my own life at the moment.

Good morning and good luck CL. I've only done about 3 DTD shops as well. I still can't get my head around mixing dtd and n/a items, and buying a certain number of each item and making sure I've got the right size, shape, colour, smell etc  - I don't have a 'proper' phone to check once I'm at T's, so have to try to make up a list at the last minute.

    Enjoy your day out :)

    Morning Everyone,

Dawnie, I know that feeling well. Can you do a list of pros and cons for both, although at the moment there's no guarantee the person who viewed your place will buy.

Oil is expensive, I don't know if cooker can be converted, but don't think it can be used without conversion. What would it be like in winter at the farmhouse, how old is it. My cottage is 200 yrs old and very cold and damp. It's only 1 bedroomed, but keeping warm was very difficult.

The land sounds great especially the chickens...

dawnie...cost of heating oil against cost of petrol...you'll have to do the sums on this, but you have to take your travelling time into the equation too....also think the cooker will have to be converted, prob cheaper to get an electric one rather that running on calor...diificult decision...good luck with it.

I just wanted to thank all the kind people who put time and energy into posting all the vouchers: I have just returned from Sainsbury's with £31.89's worth of Quantumatic, Go-Cat (which I'll donate to my local Cats' Protection branch), Innocent juice and Ariel Excel Gel for £9.91. I split it into 3 lots on the conveyor, picked a sweet young boy cashier and padded each group of items with milk and emergency KitKats (which were on offer anyway) - so I'm very pleased.
  • Morning all :)

Lovely and sunny here in the SE and finally got Fridays dtd voucher.

Did a "normal" shop last night, actually buying bargains and BOGOFs and managed to use a few mocs. Very happy with Mr S for giving me conditional spend till spits. :D

  • Beautiful here too, south-west. Sunshine changes everything don't you think?

OH has even got spring decorating fever! We had a boiler disaster in January, (hall & stairs ceiling came in!) landlord was away abroad for Winter and back now and insurance claim at last rolling forward. Decorating was done last week, and carpet being laid tomorrow. OH has been glossing (apparently not covered by the insurance ) and now has presented me with a colour chart - "which colour for the lounge, hun? I was thinking..." - blimey. Not gonna to let him go off the boil so plan to use a couple of my Tesco dtd vouchers to get some decorating stuff and some new lampshades for the hall and landing.

We've been good tenants (landlord has only just realised this) and have lived here nearly 4 years and landlord now said he doesn't mind us choosing our own colours. So yippee - bye bye job lot magnolia!

Dawnie - that farmhouse you've described - it sounds quite idyllic - Im with Byatt about the chickens, how lovely. Write it all down on paper, pro's and con's and cost of the heating. Its warmer now and easy to think of winter with rose tinted specs, but being cold and damp is no fun.

However, if dtd continues, you could make long term savings on food and clothing bills, allowing more to use for fuel. I know its not set in stone, but when one money saving door closes, another often opens.

Sometimes you have to follow your heart, life is too short, believe me.

In my Tesco I noticed (but they may be other stores too, but haven't spent much time in anywhere but T lately) , on Big & Fresh eggs (half dozen box) is an easily peelable :shhh: nss 40p coupon off 250g packs of all varieties of lurpak.

Valid to 01.09.11 so plenty of time to use them when a good offer comes along or dtd.

... free big and fresh eggs voucher inside NOFTW today at tesco noticed the lurpak coupons and eggs on 2 for £3 in my local big T
