Yes, beanie - it is good. But I have to work at it all on so many levels in order to keep it that way!

Certainly can't afford to get complacent, and it is still a pretty fine line between managing and not - not in the day to day stuff, for example I know that I can cut down my social spending if I need to, but in that "what if I lost my job" type thing - I wouldn't have more than a few weeks' grace if something drastic were to happen. And we all know that nothing in this life can be guaranteed, so I need to make sure I can do the best that I can do.

Also, I do have in the back of my mind that my 10 year fixed rate mortgage that I ported to the new house, actually comes to an end in a couple of years time, so I need to be in the best position I can be in at that time in order to get a good range of offers for the remortgage.

    It is never ending :rotfl:

HI, Glad to hear all is well. I think Souk may have been talking about these. Unfortunately, I don't have shares in JW but I do have several of these in the cupboard for picnics. Under 250 calories and usually around £1.60.

Even DH finds them filling with some fruit after.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

I like soups so I think a few cans of nice soup that can be heated up in the microwave will be ideal. I do like tuna, but would be tempted to snack on it mid morning, meaning I would still want something for my lunch. Am trying to use the whole exercise to regulate my eating a little as well, as I am quite aware that I am a bit "hit and miss" with my food at the mo, which inevitably leads to snacking on high sugar things, which won't do me any good whatsoever, either healthwise or in terms of my lovely new wardrobe full of clothes!!

I quite like noodles too - ok, so not nutritionally great, but easy to prepare and full of flavour if you get the ones from the oriental supermarkets rather than Batchelors supernoodles!

Just a thought Hypno but are there any kind of lunch type treats that you can have along the lines of a picnic in your drawers. I am thinking that if you get an impromptu phone call to meet for lunch a nice romantic picnic in the park (at a low cost on your turn to pay day) would be very nice. So things like the tuna, olives in a packet, small cheeses, erm........... getting stuck for ideas now. Anyway my ramble is kind of .......... If you take your lunch in with you but have things that can top it up quickly and cheaply should you receive the call you are killing two birds with one stone.

There is nothing more romantic than an impromptu lunch date in my book.

Oh I don't know, I think a picnic in your drawers beats it hands down :rotfl:

On a more sensible note (if such a thing is appropriate on this thread), the sort of food I would take for a picnic, is also the sort of food that I will just end up snacking on at work regardless.....so I will end up eating twice as much as I need, and still won't have anything for lunch!

I do love the impromptu dates, though, I have to say :D

Have just been to Nando's with the children and my mum - was a nice treat for the kids and was paid for by my Mum so everyone happy  Came back to a lovely clean house as it is the day my cleaner comes. So even better :T

Tricia - Thanks for that link, OH works away a lot and I am always on the lookout for lunches for him. It isn't easy when he leaves home Monday and may not get home until Friday as my sandwiches go stale by then :rotfl:

Hypno - You really do sound as though you are in a good place now with a really good balance in life. Long may it continue :T
