  • Great time, both Hypno and Pania did really well. This heat must be awful to run in. x

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Ooh, Jonny Depp in the bath - what a fabulous thing for a girl to come home to!

So.....as those of you with FB will know, I finished the marathon in a time that I am very very pleased with! It was incredibly hot, but I set off slowly, trusted myself, and just enjoyed the day. I struggled between 18 and 21 miles, but then managed to give myself a bit of a positive talking to, and when I realised that the only person who was stopping me achieving my target of under 5 hours, would be myself, I decided to kick on.

And kick on I did - the support was fantastic, the organisation brilliant as always, and I was 10 minutes under my goal of 5 hours, and a whopping 23 minutes faster than I was two years ago when I last ran it.

And, of course, I achieved my aim of being fitter at 40 than I was at 20 - which I am loving!

I stayed with Pania, so was lovely to spend time with her. She struggled around the course a bit, and has an amazing blister, but she completed it, in a time that is not to be ashamed of, although I know she was a bit disappointed with it. I think she will look back in due course, though, and be very pleased with the fact she finished - even that she started it, as there was a time when that was doubtful.

Today I am tired - my legs haven't seized up, although I do ache, but not as much as I thought I would. I have just got home so will have a lazy afternoon then am heading out for dinner with a friend which will round off my weekend beautifully :D

NLG, how did you get on?
