I had a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes for my lunch
.....and at the same time resisted going for a thai lunch with some of the guys from the office......so that is already more money put in the pot.

Well done, that's great - love the sound of the 2 pots. I've got to cut back on my silly spends as well and am nicking some of your ideas to help me and DD either - to make sure I have enough money in the bank to get a new mortgage next April when my deal runs out; go to Portugal ; go to Italy ; be able to get a cat during the summer holidays!!0

You can indeed! :T
(4 weeks til my holiday too - is the universe trying to tell me something??)

And the worst that will happen, is that if I need to use that money for an emergency, if the car dies, or the boiler blows up etc.....I will at least have it there, (or some of it!) even if it isn't being used for its original intention.
So it is all good really - and at the same time is simply getting me out of the lazy habits of buying coffee and sandwiches, so on a "behaviour" basis is doing what it needs to do too!

liking the idea of spending diary and all the little pots to put the bits of savings in.
Am thinking I'll need to start something as am facing losing just shy of £100 p/w about end of August and don't want to return to work so will need to look at our spending too0 -
