Although, of course, I am not prepared to forego *all* my lunches.....just the ones that are the "couldn't be bothered to bring in a sandwich/salad" lunches
Am doing well on the coffee front, though - have been putting my £2.10 away via online banking each morning.....I have worked out that by the end of the year, if I forego my coffee every morning except one each week, and keep putting the cash away, (even taking into account weeks away from work etc) I will have "saved" over £250.....that is almost enough for another weekend away, so really does put it into perspective!!
Daily coffee or go to Rome.....hmmm, even for me that is a bit of a no brainer!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Yep, Rome is definitely worth four coffees a week!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

so much so, that I have just been online and renamed the savings pot....."Rome"....
If that doesn't incentivise me, I am not sure if anything will!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Cracking idea! Besides Italian coffee in Rome whilst people watching is further incentive - I can visualise it now!

Me too - well worth working towards, I say!
If I transfer over the money that I save if I don't buy a sandwich to eat at my desk too, then I will be able to work towards a trip to Barcelona too....therefore I have renamed another dormant pot....and for each day that I eat my tins of soup or packets of noodles instead of heading out for a high fat, high cost sandwich, I will transfer another couple of ££s.....
It will be interesting to see how long I keep this up for....it may be that I simply save enough to book a cheap day return on the coach to London.....:rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. And even that's better than a load of coffee you could have taken yourself in a flask! :T :T
(must start a spending diary myself again - look what you've started! :rotfl: This is like shred all over again - but a bit less energetic (maybe just as painful though...) :rotfl: :rotfl:)0 -
Aha, what I haven't mentioned is that the pre-holiday shred-fest is starting on Saturday.......:rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I have 4 weeks from this weekend until I go, so just about perfect for the 30 day shred.....
I want to lose 5 or 6 lbs in the process to take me back within my comfort zone - not so bad, out of the 2 and a half stone that I lost last year - but hopefully shred, combined with my continued no snacking routine will get that sortedSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh no shred is back!! I am taking cover. Love that you have a Rome pot and a Barcelona pot. I really found that it helped me when I was about to spend money on something for the sake of it to focus on the trip of a lifetime. I think it is more about being mindful about what you spend. As you say it is easy to slip into buying a coffee every morning and become a habit. I think one coffee a week will feel much more like a treat if you stick to that. After all that is what you say that you are aiming for - a balanced life with treats and saving. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
