  • 13 AFDS for me please shaggy. Mrs r so sorry to hear you are having a hard time leaving Baby R and with Mr R's drinking. It is hard enough going back to work without having the extra worry of leaving your baby with someone who is drinking. I don't have much experience with this kind of thing but have you thought about having some kind of intervention-my friends FIL is an alcoholic and his drinking has got very very bad and her MIL got back from a terrible holiday with him where he did nothing but drink from mornig till night and I think the family have held an intervention crisis meeting to say-we all know you are an alcoholic and you need help.He is 70 but his wife has had enough. Don't know if anyone else has had experience of this or whether it is something that Al- Anon can help with?

It’s not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts
  • Hi things are back on track this week; not going to drink now so declaring 2 for SNC and I think it's 11 for Nov challenge.
Hope everyone who's feeling ill are better soon.
  • Shaggy I'm declaring a target of 10 AF days in December. I'd like to say more but realistically I don't think it's going to happen. However, I'm determined that on days I drink I'm going to try to be moderate and drink a glass of water for every glass of wine.
DD and her fiance are having their first Christmas in their new home and have invited the family over on Christmas Day afternoon. SO rather than pay a fortune for a cab on Christmas Day I'm considering an AF day and driving  We'll see but I am at least considering a sober day over the festivities.
  • Well I've been posting for just over a month now and I want to say THANK YOU to everyone for the fantastic feedback and support.
This is the first forum that I have subscribed to for this kind of help, but knew that reading back through all the posts that it provided the kind of help and support I needed. No judgements, just open and honest views, so thank you all for that.

It's easy to have your own mental goals, but recording them daily, weekly etc, on this site, really helps you achieve them. I have a problem with alcohol. I know that. I think we all do (or we know someone who does) - that's why we're here. But this daily check on our lives, helps us all in some way keep an eye on it, so thanks to you all.
This wasn't meant to turn into war & peace but I wanted to highlight how such a small thing has made a huge impact on my life. Huge thanks to Shaggy and Bearacus for "taking the register" xx

2 for the SNC bearacus and 19 for Nov please Shaggy

As it's the first day of the Advent calendar I thought I'd start with a Christmassy wave!

I certainly agree with cheezypeas and Pricey, this is a fab thread for keeping on track. And it's so supportive and non-judgemental too. So that's win/win!!

I've had my best month for ages. My aim is not to drink on school nights but I do allow myself the odd week night off for special occasions/holidays.

So I'm calling it on 16 AFDs for November Shaggy and 2 for the SNC thanks Bearacus.

I'm not sure about tomorrow, I'm meeting friends but alcohol may not be involved. Thursday, I'm off for a short break in the home of champagne so....enough said.
