how long to exchange contracts

6.5 months on we have finally exchanged! If Countrywide property lawyers are involved anywhere in your chain then be very afraid. My vendors used these and today on day of exchange it nearly didn't happen as they had our vendor mixed up with another client!

quick update
solicitor has asked us if we are okay to complete at easter
whoo hoo at last looks like things might be on the move again.
trying not to get my hopes up too much though at minute way things av been going lately but with a bit of luck things are looking good.

How is everything going with your local searches, Funkygibbon? The agency are still sitting on ours, the solicitor hasn't had anything yet *sigh*

Our searches should be with our solicitor now. Going to ring up this afternoon for an update. Our vendor has only just had a survey done on the house they are buying. They haven't sent the searches off yet!! Doesn't look like I'll be getting the question of whether we can exchange at Easter!!

I'm going to exchange any day now and it will have been about 2 months, and that's with no chain either end.

good luck with everything, ours will av been just over 2 months if we complete at easter like solicitor mentioned.
we purposefully went for a house with no chain to avoid extra delays heard too many horror stories about wait, chains breaking etc, our house is being sold to ftb its the wait for mortgage offer to get to solicitor thats kept us all waiting but now light at end of tunnel lol

Following on from my last post - what a lot of difference a few days can make! Things have really moved now and we'll all but certainly be in this side of Easter - exchange+completion this Friday is a possibility if my solicitor recieved the mortgage advance from First Direct in time.
