Not recieved prize... next step?

Hey guys. I had a WEM from moanaboutmen on the 15th of Feb, asking me to reply with my address so they can tell the company who would send the prize (a dvd) directly to me. I replied straight away with my address.

I'd not heard anything, and decided to email again on the 17th of March to say that I hadn't recieved the dvd yet and if they knew what was happening with it. It's now the 25th and I've still heard nothing, no email, no dvd, nothing.

I know prizes can sometimes take a while to arrive, and I thought I was doing the right thing by leaving it (more than) a month before contacting them, so I'm surprised that they've not even bothered to get in touch with me.

What's the next step here? Thanks in advance for any replies :) I know it's not a big prize but it's one of only a few that I've won!

I won a prize with them on 9/3 and it hasn't arrived yet.
I was going to leave it a month before chasing.
Bit worried now that they won't reply if your having issues with your prize :(

I'd send another email, attach a return reciept, state you have been left in an awkward and embarrassing position to keep having to chase this prize up,to save yourself further disappointment if you don't hear anything within 7 working days you will ask the IPM to chase it up on your behalf.

    Details for IPM http://www.theipm.org.uk/about/contactus.aspx
    email complaints@theipm.org.uk

    Good luck xx

I had issues with another company and won a DVD, book and T Shirt back in December. I had loads of hassle and kept getting fobbed off, or just ignored. Finally I learned last week that they don't have the prize any more and I won't be getting it.
So, don't leave it too long. I mailed after a month and then again and again but all I was told was they'd chase it up. Then told, sorry too late...don't have it any more. So, I had to just leave it and put it down to a bad win.

Hope you have more luck though...it's infuriating when that happens.
  • Wow that really sucks! Can you not go to this ipm company about them?

Thanks for the replies - seems so daft to be so serious about something as small as a dvd but it is extremely disappointing to look forward to recieving something and then it never turning up!

Yeah, it really is. It was a book and DVD I really wanted as well...so now will go out and buy them myself.

It's embarrassing to have to chase after prizes. I got a couple of rude e mails back saying that they had better things to do than chase up irate winners missing prizes. And when I pointed out that other people had said they hadn't got their wins from them, they said that comps only make up a tiny percentage of their readers, so they weren't going to worry about their reputation. And why was I so worried when it had cost me nothing to go in for it? I was mortified...I felt like a beggar. :D

Hope this comes through for you and you get your win. x

Fudgecake you need to report them to the IPM, attach the emails to your complaint, it does work, I've chased many a prize for myself or others x

How they treated you was appalling x

OMG! That's terrible! I thought I was getting a bit of a bad time! You really ought to do something about that, what a terrible company it must be!

I've sent an email to them now, I'd be horrified if I was receiving it (even though I wasn't nasty in the slightest, just sounds awfully threatening lol) but what can you do, they should have replied to the first email... I'll keep you posted!

I know prizes can take a while. On the site I have connections too I respect a chase after a month and chase it. Sometimes they take a phenominal time to finally get anywhere but usually I get somewhere in the end.

Its usually that someone left a company and someone else thought they were sent out. Or the PR company are actually a third party to a prize so even more people involved.

I suppose the companies that dont tell you you have won and just send a prize are better off as they dont get people chasing them for prizes do they :rotfl:

Anyway - good luck - keep it nice - the poor person at the forum is probably a volunteer and trying to be as helpful as possible.

fudgecakes experience sounds shameful - I certainly wouldnt behave like that. I am shocked.

They said it wasn't their fault..it was the PR company. They themselves are just a small online film blog thingy who have comps on their site and they said it was nothing to do with them.
I've let it go...I just know not to enter their comps any more. ;)

I recently chased a win for a luxury night out, the read up claimed free cocktails all evening, when they sent me a letter confirming win they just said about booking venue, it was for a party of 12, I queried the drinks and snacks the read up stated as I can easily take 12 people out to a bar so don't get the luxury part if the drinks as stated aren't included, they denied it being in the read up, this was the agency handling the prize for a very large world wide company.

So I sent an email CC the worldwide company Ceo and the IPM with the comp read up from google cache, within 48 hrs I had a cheque couriered to me x
