Decided to go with icesave, watch out with the online application form it times out and all information is lost if you are too slow.

Last week I opened an Icesave account and tried it out by moving the minimum £250 across. Everything has gone smoothly.

Then at the weekend I discovered the Northern Rock online Silver Saver account paying another 0.01%, so I opened one there as well! As I used to have a mortgage with Northern Rock (now paid off - yippee!), it was a doddle opening it as they already have the required info on me.

Have decided at the last minute to shunt the ING money into Northern Rock, as BACS transfers are allegedly quicker to and from Northern Rock than Icesave. At least when Northern Rock start lagging behind in a few months as people are predicting, Icesave will be ready and waiting!

One way or another, it is goodbye to ING after 3 years with them!

Anybody else have problems with NR's secure 'bit' downloading? It's soooooooo ---king s l o w ! ! ! ! I have an Online Saver a/c which now has v.little left in it since the rate started lagging behind. I remembered that the download used to be really slow but, with a new computer an'all, I thought things may have improved. So I went on again to look at the old a/c before investigating the Silver Saver a/c, but..... No better. It says it may take a couple of minutes but it takes forever & in fact I haven't managed to get it up at all [which is what happens when you get past 50, perhaps..]
