Atlantic has to give 10 day notice. 10 any side of the price so that means that you could get a letter anytime up to the 10/03. but the price increase will only hit you after you next bill. so that means that you will have you next bill at the old prices then you will go up to the new pricesFiliss0 -
FJSRiDER wrote:Well, thanks but... Is this the dual fuel rate? Shouldn't there be be a separate charge for the electricity and gas? Why are the prices I've seen quoted (to me) and to sergeant121 (and whatever you are quoting) so different?
I can see why people don't bother to switch. It sometimes appears that there is a conspiracy to confuse and contradict. :rolleyes:
The prices that i quoted are atlantic doorstep d/d elec prices. let me know if you want any other ones. The price depends on what Pes Area you are in some areas are cheaper than others.Filiss0 -
As I received the letter on the day that the price increase happened, I raised the lack of notice with Atlantic by email. Here is their reply:
"Thank you for your email.
"I am sorry to hear you don't feel you have been given enough time to
make an informed decision as to which supplier best suits your needs.
"However you have 14 days from receipt of the price increase letter to contact us and advise us that due to the price increase you wish to change supplier. Then change your supplier within 6 weeks of original contact. If this is followed we will bill you on the old prices.
"If you do not contact us first then change supplier you will be billed
on the new rates from the 1 March.
"I trust this resolves your query."
Note the last but one paragraph - you have to tell them first that you are going to switch, otherwise you are charged the new prices.

If only all the facts were laid out in front of us before we switch;
1) I could have locked on old Atlantic rates for the 6 weeks it takes to change suppliers.
2) I would have used EnergyHelpline to work out the best provider (Powergen in my case) and then rather than clicking Apply, I would have closed down the session and gone direct to Powergen's website and got myself a £30 cashback for switching suppliers as opposed to the token £10 I'm getting from EnergyHelpline!
Perhaps others can learn from my mistakes. :mad:0
