I have to say that I am very upset. At the end a man recommended putting carpet grippers on fences to stop thieves. Well what about cats. My cat had a really lacerated paw probably from some fool doing something like that. It wasn't exactly money saving for me.
Apart from anything else if a burglar did injure themselves they could find themselves with an injury claim. You'd think the producers would check out the advice before broadcasting it, wouldn't you?0 -
My DD1 seemed to be quite interested in the nail varnish, particularly using the hole punch cover thingies for a French Manicure - I expect I'll see her over the weekend with beautifully done nails
I was shocked when my sister told me that she spends £27 getting her nails done every three weeks  I'm really cheap and just use the nail clippers (I hate nails which go past the ends of my fingers, they have to be really short). I really wish I could be more obsessed about what I look like, but it's such a struggle :rotfl:(and DH loves me to bits the way I am)
Me to I just can't be bothered to make sure I look wonderfull all the time paiting my nails seems like way to much hassle they would only chip when I do the washing up I would much rather knit.February GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12

I felt the programme was a waste of time, but perhaps not since at least one poster has been inspired to cook with what she had and delighted with her results. I tend to think everyone already knows these things, but lack of money has made frugality a necessity for me for decades.
I was in Tesco the other day when one assistant rushed over to another and asked another how she could make sauce for macaroni.
He told her to buy some Dolmio white sauce or even buy tinned macaroni ... she looked pleased at this suggestion and as she went on her way he said to his colleague 'She thinks I'm a chef or something ...' :rotfl:
They were in their 30's and 50's. Not being ageist but I was a bit bemused by that one. Finally Debt Free (£8k to zero) yay! :j :j

Yeah I noticed that and said the same thing....inside or on the back.

Reminds me of when I asked an assistant in one of the super markets (can't remember which) where I could find Trex. She had never heard of it.
Me: It's a white fat like Cookeen.
(More blank looks)
Me: I want it to make pastry.
Her face cleared: Oh. Pastry. Follow me.
Off we trotted and she proudly pointed out the banks of JusRoll.
Me: No. I want to make my own pastry.
She looked incredulous: Is that possible then?
OK. She was very young and I am very old but what do they learn at school these days?I believe that friends are quiet angels

Its a shame to see so many people on here saying they found the programme useless...
I really enjoyed it and ok, some of the stuff I already knew or rolled my eyes at the stupidity of the "before" situations.... but some of the tips were good... like the metal skewer through the potato before baking....
Can't wait for next week now.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

I'm sure there was something in the press a few years ago about someone being prosectuted for doing something similar so I was surprised they used it too. Of all the tips they could have used a very odd choice.
I'm not sure what to make of the show, glad they have inspired some though :T When he put that pizza and pasta in the bin you would have thought they would have addressed how you can use leftovers the next day as I would think a lot of people wouldn't know how to do that and whats safe to reheat etc.0 -
