Have to say i quite like the programme, but the food shopping bill! I remember my kids saying to their friends we only get nice things if they are on offer..... and now when i visit my daughter house she does the same things when she goes shopping. I remember my youngest aged about 7 asking why we dont buy items with pictures on the labels, just writing (value ranges). I replyed that as we were very clever and could read we bought the special items with no pictures. A nice old lady said it was the best excuse she had heard...
And to this day my daughter still reminds me of it!!!!
And im proud to say i buy all toiletries, cleaning products when they are on offer.... i do try with other items..BSC member 137

What about children who have cats crapping in their sand pits?
Or gardeners who have them crapping in their vegetable patch?

Everything was made from scratch - we were taught how to clean an oven as well. I think there are so many subjects taught now that lessons are much shorter.
My DD is doing DT food and she is taught to make pastry. They make it one lesson then freeze it and use the next to make the dish. However my DS who also did DT food at a different school 4 years ago didn't. My DD is learning a lot more techniques than my DS did, although her teacher suffers from foot in mouth syndrome and says some very stupid things! However that is another story!0 -
I really enjoyed it
I think its all done in the 'spirit of moneysaving' and although the only new thing I learned was the car insurance tip *really handy as eldest has test next week!* it's still nice to see their enthusiasm on screen..beats all the doom and gloom:T0 -

Apart from anything else if a burglar did injure themselves they could find themselves with an injury claim. You'd think the producers would check out the advice before broadcasting it, wouldn't you?A policeman I know said you could get into trouble for doing this as it's sole purpose is to hurt someone.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Re: family that spent £200 pw on food - when they were doing their dinner menu for the week, did it not occur to them that it is possible to eat the same thing 2 nights in a row? Buying and cooking in bulk is IMO the best way of eating what you like, and saving both time money in the process. It would never occur to me to go out and buy processed foods as part of my supermarket shopping.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

That Lady Lesley is on the ball. What was it she said a bottle of wine cost her to make? I think it was 10p. I might try that myself.0

Lady Lesley is the real star of the show! The homemade nettle pasta looked fab, too0

I love this programme. I enjoy the tips but the best bit of all is the Stupid Family feature. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
