Just watched to programme, had recorded it and didn't have time to go back and watch it yet.
It made me laugh, I agree about the xmas cards, don't think they will get many people copying that idea....
I also found it rather funny that they did not count the cost of "cupboard ingredients", as if the vegs/eggs/milk etc were actually free, without mentioning that the xmas pudding was free as well... cheating! lol0 -

its a bit of a bug bear of mine that in pricings cupboard stuff is often forgotten. Of course we should be using it, but it doesn't magically replenish0 -

What got me was the amount of food left on the plates, it makes you wonder how much food that family threw out last year.
I would have made a lovely bubble and squeak with an egg on top for boxing day breakfast or even better a roast dinner pieBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I don't spend £1400.00 a year on food let alone one meal.I could never justify spending that sort of cash even if I had it (which I don't):):) but each to their own I suppose .I have my Christmas dinner at my Dds and its usually a turkey crown (the little boys aren't fussed about turkey anyway)roast spuds, carrots, brussels, pigs in blankets ,stuffing and two sorts of gravy that my son-in-law makes.None of us like a starter and pudding will probably be vienetta for the boys and some of my DDs chocolate cheesecake that she makes. In the evening we are going to my other DDs for a buffet with all the family and Boxing Day I bought her a nice piece of beef this afternoon. She will also have some ham and assorted goodies on the side if you fancy nibbling but none of us like to over eat anyway and if the weather is kind we will take the dogs for a long walk at the country park on Boxing afternoon to walk off the excess's of Christmas.I help my DD out with buying the veg and joint at Christmas as she feeds me sunday dinner every week and its my way of saying thank you as I haven't cooked Sunday dinner in over 8 years since I lost my OH .We have quite an old fashioned Christmas day and play lots of games with the children and t.v. isn't the mainstay of our day Tomorrow night I go to church with my eldest and her family and will stay there overnight and then go to my youngest in the morning .I feel very lucky that i have such a closeknit family and I am never left alone over Christmas. My frugal ways will start again once the holidays are over as we then have to look forward to the summer time so saving starts in ernest in January.
I also get to take home any left over jars of pickles etc from my DDs as they know I will use them up during the year0 -
