Isn't a mojito recipe something that is classic? And therefore could be googled?

I'm not sure! I know I don't like them though, lol!

  • It's not hard.

Cut 2 limes into halves. Put 1 1/2 into a pot and beat them up with a handful of mint leaves and a good dessertspoon of sugar.

Add ice, pour over white rum, add fizzy water.

    Drink.

Personally, I'd rather do it with vodka and add ginger beer instead. Then it's a mule.

I too watched in disgust at the thought of two supposedly 'penniless students' who spend 11K a year on getting off their face.I don't think it even mentioned whether they had student loans to fund this life style. Where do they find these loonie tunes folk from? The other week there were two daft lasses moaning about having to tart up a whizzy wonderful flat for peanuts .When on earth are they going to show 'normal' folk who are struggling to make ends meet and feed their families
My DD has four school age children and works full time as does her husband they have just had their working family tax credit in and its the princely sum of £358 per year, she earns around 15k a year and her OH earns around £27K so with an income of £42K which to me as a pensioner living on a fixed income sounds a fortune they actually do struggle with four growing lads to feed and clothe, but she loves her boys and does her best to bring them up knowing the value of money and how hard it is to come by.
I help out with odds and ends, and usually by the third week in the month things are getting streetched to breaking point. Her kids don't have designer gear or junk food everything is cooked from scratch, she leaves for work at 8.00 in the morning and often isn't home till gone 6.30 at night I help by 'prepping' stuff for their dinner and the kids have a cooked dinner every night.Nothing is wasted in their house and they have usually one night out a year together when its her OHs birthday.so although they have a reasonable income when the kids shoe bill for school comes in she doesn't get a lot of change out of a hundred quid. Her eldest boy is 16 and has a paper round to help pay for odds and ends that he wants. He is going to 6th form in September for two years so no chance he will be earning just yet.
They are a normal family who like millions of others are scraping by as best they can .Seeing this programme showing very silly people spending far too much cash on daft things is not good t.v. its not even very helpful or entertaining( apart from the rant value I guess) Why not make a decent programme with less 'gimmicks' and then Channel Four could be praised for doing something right for a change .
The 'mechanic' is a steroetype, and not even a very good one either.
The dippy lady who frolics through the hedgerows eating weeds is just plain potty, and as for the soppy woman who makes rubbish'jewellery' out of feathers well I think she just needs treatment of some sort. Why not show someone making something useful. In the last series at least they did try to do that ,this series has been a great waste of time and money and 'Mrs Moneypenny' must be laughing all the way to the bank, at 'teaching the oiks how to save money' Even Delia isn't as patronising as this silly woman in her daft hat.At least she's not wobbling around on her pushbike quite so much:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Another ranter here :rotfl:. Nothing to add, except if they were supposed to be buying cheap, own label booze, why was there a bottle of Pimms on the table when Aldi's is a lot cheaper, and award winning :).

Looking forward to Martin's programme when it starts.

What I'd really like is a programme where MSE'rs take control of a household:
    • 1 going through the bills and sorting out remortgages, new power tariffs etc.
    • 1 in the kitchen (why have Approved Foods never been mentioned?), using Weezle's website etc.
    • 1 in charge of household shopping - coupons, ebay for dishwasher tablets, glitches etc.
    • 1 in charge of clothes shopping - charity shops, ebay, car boots.
    • 1 in charge of increasing income - ebay again, quidco, mystery shopping, surveys.
    • 1 in charge of accounts - spreadsheet heaven.
    • 1 in charge of the garden - grow your own, splitting plants, swapping etc.
    • 1 in charge of decor.
There we go - an 8 week series (just off to write a pitch, quite a good idea actually :rotfl:).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Only watch the programme now and then as I find it too annoying for words!

When in financial straits, economising on accessories means not buying any. . . . not wasting time fannying around with broken jewellery and a hot glue gun! A couple of hours of batch cooking or remaking/remodelling an item of clothing that has been bought but never worn because too long/big/needs buttons etc would be more productive to my mind than time spent tarting stuff up.

Gallygirl - love your programme plan :) I'd watch
    :)
