So you wouldn't think bad of me for picking a big bunch of daffodils instead of throwing out money for flowers?!

If they are not yours, leave them alone. Would you pick them if they were growing on someones grave? If the answer is no, why pick them at other places.

Yes it is wrong to pick daffodils that are not growing on your own private land.

Those flowers are planted for the enjoyment of ALL not for you to have a bunch in a vase in your house. If everyone did the same there'd be no nice flowers for anyone to see.

Leave them alone, they are not yours, if you take them it is not only theft, you are also depriving hundreds of other people of the
pleasure of this beautiful sight of daffodils growing. Of course they will grow again, but not till next year and then some other
thief will come along again, ad infinitum............................ so no flowers for us to see at all.

I cant understand why anyone would ask the question, TBH
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

We have plenty here in the North West, on every roundabout and a lot of grass verges, they really lighten the place up:)

I have seen quiet a few kids out for walks with parents picking some, and in fact my wee lad of 6 would pick one to take home for his mummy, I see no harm in one or two.

The real shame is the teenagers who seem to enjoy treating them like teed up golf balls  some even go to the lengths of pulling the bulbs out as they slingshot better :o Shame these people aren't seen/ caught by the Council workers, Police or Busy Bodies who object to children picking a few:o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Definitely don't pick them! They are for the general public's enjoyment, not just for one person or for one family.

If you want daffodils at home why not grow them yourself. The bulbs are very very cheap, available from B&Q and supermarkets and can even be grown indoors on a sunny windowsill.

Or push the boat out and buy some ready cut ones from the supermarket or flower shop. They are only about £1 a bunch.

Picking them isn't a good idea anyway - doing so has an affect on future years bloom quality and quantity if the bulbs are left in the ground.

i am almost certain there is an actual law about this kind of thing, i am not sure though weather the law allows or prohibits it, maybe if you picked them and tried to sell them then no chance. i personally wouldnt pick them, someone had to go to the trouble of planting them for the councils, so technically we all paid for them through taxes, so you are stealing them from everyone, as people say they are there for a reason, to brighten the place up!
