I have one of these cards too although I don't use it as a main account. I like to use Pay@pump all the time so this card just would not do for me.

    Hi Lee,

What card would you suggest would be best to use for pump, plane etc...

    Thanks.

My Natwest Visa Debit starts 4751 30 and works fine on trains, planes and pay @ pump...maybe Natwest can issue you with a new card with a different number?

Something tells me that these companies aren't going to do anything about it.

If your Natwest Visa Debit card begins with the numbers 4751 27 or 4751 28 this cannot be used in unattended Point of Sale terminals. This card type can only be used at a retailer or supplier of services where they can authorise the transaction with us at the time of the transaction being made and self-service terminals, such as those on trains or at petrol pumps, cannot perform such an authorisation.

I'd either ask them to change your account/card so you can use it for these types or services. If they won't, change bank. Nationwide CashCard+ lets you use it for these services.

Knowing that they didn't inform me of this and accused ASDA of being at fault and also myself, by alleging we had no money in the account, I won't be asking them to change our account/card.
Best bet is to probably change bank or look for another account.

I mean it's brilliant when using it online or at actual shops in person, no fault there.
    Oh well, I contradict myself.
Icelands tills sometimes have problems accepting it but that was their machine at fault them times, not my card.

I will certainly be shopping around.
Thanks everybody for your helpful info!
