GPRS is the road that mobile data travels along, WAP is the car on that road.

What it means is that he has been using mobile data, for example the mobile internet, emails etc

    a) Read the manual and switch it off in the phone.
    OR
    b) Call network and ask them to do this on their side.

    Not really.

WAP is long, long dead. Thank god.

GPRS = General Packet Radio Service. A form of mobile data.

Better than 2G data, not as good as 3G data, but it tends to be used as a catch-all name for mobile data now.

That is how I understand it, WAP is devised basically for mobile phones, there are other protocols like html, the gprs can appear in different speeds whether it be on 2g to 4g .
    I will re-check though

just checked in between the break of ITV the chase

GPRS and WAP are very2 different. in analogy, GPRS is the highway and WAP is the vehicle that uses the highway.
    See the difference?
Most WAP-enabled phones uses WAP to access the Internet. But, PDAs usually equipped with full OS and full web browser suite which allow the access to the Web using the standard HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
BTW, you don't want to access the Web using WAP - too "texty", if you know what I mean. :)

    from http://www.computing.net/answers/pda/wap-vs-gprs-an-explanation/1843.html

But I'm semi certain someone on this forum gave a similar explanation. :o

A lot of 'free' games that come on mobiles are a con, the 1st levels are free but when you progress up a level they connect to the internet to get other levels.

Alternatively some connect to the internet to fetch adverts to put into the game.

You may be able to delete it off altogether.

PS some mobile companies, especially on PAYG handsets make disabling internet access deliberately hard or impossible, then they put lots of things on it that will make it connect up, as they want to sell you ring tones, music etc etc. You just have to be careful! (or get sim-free phone that is unbranded by the network and will take any sim and put the PAYG sim in it then you have control)
