Cat brought in Live mouse

Just what you need (not what the mouse wanted either I guess)
My cat moss brings in a live mouse and drops it, he's re-found it once for me and I almost managed to catch it, when it disappeared (not into the cat I hasten to add) now trying to find it, both cats are in the house.
Going to set up a bucket trap (like for escapee hamsters) but where the cats can't get to either!
Any one had any experience with this?

ooooh, tricky situation. I had to let the cats in to figure out where it was, then take them out and try and get it with a shoe box. It can be a nightmare!
    Good luck

I've found that an empty Pringles tube is good for catching mice. They run into it and then if you tip it up they can't climb up the inside.

My cat does this all the time, usually I can corner the mouse and put a container over it and then take it outside. Although recently he released one in my bedroom and I had to take all the furniture out to find the damn thing :rotfl:

This is not uncommon in cats. You must be a good owner, and the cat is making a present of it to you.

this is quite a recent thing that Moss has done, he's previously brought in 2 dead mice and a dead bird (poor things) he has a bell on his collar, but we moved here late 2009 and there are allotments and few more fields, so I think they have both been practising their mousing skills, however Roy doesn't feel the need to share so much!
Today though, I was on the floor changing my 6 month olds nappy, when in comes moss with a mouse moving in his mouth!so got baby off the floor and almost got moss to drop the mouse out the door, but in the hall it went.
it went in the settee, Moss found it for me, I got him away, then it hid right up the back of the radiator (quickly made sure the heating was switched off properly!) shooed Moss away (again) managed to get it from behind the radiator with a cane and caught it with a rubber glove in a bucket!

It didn't appear to have any blood on it and was running round the bucket.

I let it go in a bit of an abandoned garage up the road, there are holes in the bottom of the door, but thought it might be dark and quiet in there whilst it recovered.
