my dog loves me.. on numerous occasions lately i've woken up to find he's crawled under the covers and curled up with me, his head will be under my chin with my arm round him.
Then he'll wake up and give me a few kisses / wet noses in the eye till i wake up.

Thats nice - I'd love to have a dog and cant wait till circumstances are right.

I dont think my cat just wants me around for the food. I work some long hours but am home most of the weekend, and he follows me absolutely everywhere. Although he could go out, he chooses not to at weekends.

you've got a cat. That's the best reason to get a dog.

Mine is asleep on my leg at the minute which would be cute if i didn't need a cig / drink / wee

Tell you what, I wasnt a huge cat fan till I got one. Much better sense of humour than I ever gave them credit for.

I have a 2 yr old African Grey parrot (Charlie) and he's been with me a year after needing rehoming he loves me to bits - he hates my husband and goes into a total strop if I leave him for too long. My Mum looked after him while we went away for a weekend and he ended up throwing his food and water at her!!

We got a golden cocker spaniel puppy yesterday (I will post pics when I sort my camera out - he's sooooo cute!) and I was sat with him on the sofa cuddling him as he'd had his first jab today and Charlie flew out of his cage to get to me. I had to put the puppy in his bed and cuddle the bloody parrot - he's worse than the kids!!

My cat has a genuine attachment to me, and prefers me to other people, but I don;t think they can love in the same way as humans
